Holloways beach

had a sail with Firie this afternoon. young Billybob came out for a look see.

Firie handled the conditions well and had a reading of 32 knots plus on his gps.

i enjoyed the time even though fairly short due to wind dropping out and

rain coming in.

Some of the team have gone to Green and maybe Arlington, good wind so expecting a couple of PB's Wink

Just got a phone call from Mad Cam's lovely partner, looks like Cam has done a couple of ribs for the team, Cath's not sure how. Cath's stuck on Fitzroy Island, Cam's boat is at Green and Cam's in Cairns being put together again. Hope you're ok mate, thinking of you Cry

Good wind but rough as guts, what's new. I got 2 runs at Holliways Beach before wind died and more ferken rain Yell Got a 32+ on the dial 2nd run and thought a 33 was on the cards, a beach PB for me but na another day I guess Undecided

Nice day on Green but couldn't get comfortable. Graphs show plenty of wind but felt underdone on the 6.4.

Day of mixed blessings on Green Island & Arlington Reef.

ESE 20-25 knots with the odd gust higher.

Goal was NMs on Arlington Reef but a good session was cut short by a moment of concentration loss followed by my worst ever harness wipeout resulting in 2 broken ribs & a small pneumothorax ...

The major problem then was the 8klm distance I had to negotiate to get back to the Island...was absolute agony ...

Big thanks to the lifeguards & resort staff who helped -thanks for the morphia MATT .!!!

Looks like a PB was had so stoked to be getting closer to Izaak...!!!

Off the water for 4 -8 weeks so bummer

Green Island, QLD, AU

Nice return to Green after 2 months of no sailing. Wind was very east today making the run very choppy. Had planed to head over to Arlington

today with Cam and Gaz but the good doctor crashed out before we had a chance to go.

Used Aerotec VMG 6.0 and Ca 50 with venom 30.

Sailpilot (7970km):

Illawong Beach, pretty choppy ESE 20-24kn, Naish SP95, KA koyote 5.9.

First sail since Green Island week so pretty out of shape, (but better nic than Cam Frown), tough luck mate.

Bloody Hell Cam! That would have been a bit hairy - good thing it didn't tension. Can you do a thoracostomy with an euro base? Bloody great Alpha must have been worth it though..

Cam,

Bad news and cause I'm a sadistic bastard if I could think of something to make you laugh I would.  Hope you get well soon and remember to take it easy as broken ribs are no laughing matter.

PS -congrats on the alpha PB too. I take that backWink

Firie,

Excellent 2 sec for the ocean.  Went for a run this a.m. and had some hairy moments too.

Cam,

Next time you'll be able to rig up treatment for a pneumothorax out at arlington with the tube from your harness line and a plastic bottle floating across the reef.  No charge for the consultation either.

Dr Cam,

Amazing sailing in such a depilated state, 8kms on ribs is unimaginable.

4-8 weeks is not that bad, have a mate who's been out of the game for 6 months due to tendon detachment from the chest.

Get well soon.Smile

Hey Cam,

Still waiting to see Kel's post, he did a lot better than me.

You're doing a good job earning the "Mad Doc" title. Eight K's with broken ribs is bad enough, but even worse when you're hanging onto a 7.8 race sail in open ocean. Big effort!!!!!!

Sorry Cam, file checked and no PB Frown

Your 24 Alpha is where you went A up.

Checked the distance in Google and yep close enough to 8K's sailing with 2 broken ribs Surprised

Cam you were in serious of pain!!! don't know how you made it back all that way but glad you did.

The boys tell me you were more concerned about your gear then your ribs when they picked you up!!! That sounds about right.

Get better soon mate!!

Bad luck Cam...Good you made it back ok.

I landed on my boom and broke a couple of ribs at Tinaroo a long time ago and thankfully I only had 802.23 meters to sail.

The good part is that you can sit on the shore with a camera and watch for 4 or 6 weeks, like I've been doing for the last 8 months.

If you live up to your "Mad Cam" stories, you'll probably be sailing in 2 weeks !!Smile

You can take over my job as the boss of the Flying Freddy Pit Crew.Cool

No laughing or sneezing for a month at least... think of it as a good opportunity to discover "putting the feet up" :) Glad you got back OK. Must have been one crazy crash. Those "pneumothorax" thingies can hurt a hell of a lot on their own without broken ribs. I did that in April... was really painful for 2 weeks then suddenly (overnight) it just went away.
