Swan Bay Vic.

Got up early this morning as the forecast was predicting better winds early. When i got down there they were right, the wind was awesome, rigged up and went out. Slightly over cooked  but managable, but the tide was to low and my fin was grabbing the edge of the weed bank so i decided to grab the missile, had one run, got comfy went back up and the wind slowly started to fall away and the first run was the fastest of the day, after that the wind never really came back in to get the most of the run, so went in change boards. Went back out and tried for a hour, had to stop about 7 times to free the weed as the tide ran off really low, to low  for some of the banks we normally run over. Nice day though, and at the end we had a little treat of total glassed of water agian, were we just did alpha's,

Forecast was looking good this AM and after spending night with family camping and having annex blown over looked like it was going to be a good day. Dropped the camper off home , threw in the gear and headed to catch up with Jacques at Swan Bay. In typical doughboy style - text message came through " pick me up a pie on the way down". Rigged the 6.4 and followed Jacques around to get an idea of the place as I had never sailed here before. First session felt fairly crap and came in to get bigger fin and tweak downhaul settings. Second sesion felt a lot nicer and just started to have a bit of fun. I can see how this place will be amazing with another 10 knots and some lower tide. Finished off the day with some "magic carpet" sailing. The weed beds release something that effects surface tension and all chop/ripples dissappear. Was like sailing in the local swimming pool. It was weird sailing over mirror smooth water.. A few of the lads rocked up later for a look and couldn't believe their eyes see us planning past.. Look forward to the next big Northerlies.. Bring on Summer!!!

If we could just blow the cobwebs off some our team mates we could have a good month...

Good efffort guys. Sorry I couldn't make it, but thanks for the heads up Jacques. Looks like it was a fun mellow day. Shame it wasn't a bit more epic. One day that place will really deliver the goods.
