There was heaps of rain hitting Vic yesterday when a Sou-Wester appeared imminent on Sunday.

I was in the Victorian high country resting my leg (that had a large thorn in it for near on a week before it was butchered out by a doctor on Thursday night, leaving a meaty hole stuck back together with 8 stitches),but Huey was calling!

I started driving out of the hills this morning to find a number of roads awash, until I was on final approach to the PiT and saw a large Sea Eagle gliding over head(I new from that instant things were going to be better than good!).

The PiT!  consistent 20-25 Sou-Wester.

A play day at Invy with the IWC. Spent most of the day instructing so not much distance. Had a crack early at a good speed before everyone got ready, but all i achieved a hole in the 6.6, a sore jaw and chipped tooth. All the speeds were on the SL52 once i pried it from Pete, I think he,s in love as he did shed a tear when he handed it back. He did some cracking jybes on it so pbs expected. Had a sail on his JP 104 with a weed fin and HATED it. Jybes like a Metro train, went ok in a straight line. Swaped the fin for a C3 34 which made a lot of difference but i still had to jump on it to make it miss the shore. Matt,s formula board jybes better. Maybe i need a Finian diet. Hats off to all the guys and girls who have to sail with a weedy and jybe.

A great weekend at Inverloch with the IWC for a teaching clinic with Alison Shreeve. I got drafted in to pass on a few of my bad habits to some unsuspecting beginners and intermediates. Light wind day and warm balmy temps yesterday was fantastic for all the newbies to get up and going. A SW wind kicked in overnight along with oodles of rain. The wind today was probably a steady 20 knots or so with some stronger gusts. Nice runs along the bank opposite the Angling club when the tide dropped to expose the banks. I got some gybe lessons from the master - Mr Kato - and it seemed to make a huge difference. So when I had some free time I blasted up and down on Kato's CA 52 putting some serious work into laydown carve gybes - and quite a few face plants! Undecided Didn't worry about speed or alphas, just nailing gybes better. Couldn't believe how good Kato's 52 was to sail - so smooth and responsive and it was happy to do sharp turns or wide turns in flat or chop. So much better than my similar sized JP slalom 84L. I was quite reluctant to give it back!

Glad to realise that it wasn't just me finding my 09 104 JP slalom board was hard to gybe - it seems to need a very gentle touch and very wide arc.

A really fun weekend though and many thanks to Doug, George and Megs , Mick and the others who put all the work into organising the event.
