Great day. Got there around 12pm. Sailed for 3 hours. Nicely powered for most of the time. Good to catch up with Peter & John (Pit crew) & George from the Sotherly Busters.

Point Leo, VIC, AU, Nice afternoon sail with my brother in law who was on a kite. I organised a bucks weekend at Somers and we tested Pt Leo on an easterly. Wind was stronger first and a bit up and down, so I rigged a 6.6. Had some great runs and showed him that a kite is no match speed wise. He got me back when I was schlogging in the lulls though. Took the barge out in the end, should have gone for the 7.5.

Cheers Doug. The small fin helped (avoiding the bars) a lot! Some long runs until the water depth got a bit shallow but the water also flattened off a bit in the last hour. Followed Peter around a bit trying hard to keep up.

Point Leo 16 Feb 2011

Good stuff Evan. First time at Point Leo, it's a great spot in an easterly, some long swell coming in from the south and very clean water, nicely sheltered from the chop further in, could get some good speed runs in the right conditions. I reckon I may go there more often, wouldn't mind the check it out in a SW or S on the other side of the point

Wow Jak didnt know Leo works in an easterly, what tide do you need to sail there in an easterly?

I think it was outgoing tide when we sailed, not sure how it works in low tide. There are some rocks towards the west  (you can see I aimed for the SLSC most of the time). There is also a big reef to the right but otherwise all sand. A nice beach actually, nearly ocean type.
