Woodmans Point, WA, AU was expecting big winds so i rigged small, RRD x-fire 90 and 6.0 overdrive i even had my carbon art speed 40 on standby but the wind never really built up enough to get anything fast even with the 90

Melville Beach, WA, AU lovely place, grassed area, muddy car park, swing set fo rthe kids and young at heart. A Tap located closed to everything for washing The waters are shallow with sand banks breaking the waves allowingfor great speed sailing. Most days you will find no-one but a stray dog pissing on a fence post. Other days its the meeting place of "Speedsters" tall lean men with computers on their arms, in tight clothing floppy hats and back slapping like they just had a healthy baby boy!

These Speedsters, like sirens of the deep, moan. They emit a low throaty moan, a wanting desire escaping from their soul. And in flight they make wooping, laughing, hysterical screaming. The screaming passes as they become trance like, still, motionless but they are flying on their carbon rockets across the water.

Yesterdays plague proportions of speedsters almost ended in violence as the wind they desire, coax, make sacrifices to, vanished! Local bottle shops were preparing for a hard night of speedsters, wives and family frightened when their men came home earlier than expected. Perth last night was on a knifes edge!

Thought I had missed the wind when I got on the water at 4:30pm and spent the next 45 mins slogging. Finally picked up a few gusts and made the most of them for the next 15 mins. First run on the Sonic 85 and it felt great. Maybe a little lively but I'm a bit rusty and 3 footstraps need a bit of tightening to fit my feet better.

Toby, you're a poet. Although I am wondering if your words were prepared before or after the trip to the bottle shop (a few too many can turn most of us into poets - temporarily at least).

Steve, very happy to have got the 85 out (and going - if only for a few runs). I might have ended up over that knife edge Toby talks about if the wind hadn't cooperated just long enough to see a glimpse of what the board can do. And yes the footstraps were a bit on the big side originally but that's probably due to my geisha like feet. I have actually swapped the straps to another set I had in the shed and moved them to the outboard position. They felt like they were in the right spot but just needed tightening to give my feet a better connection with the board.

Hey well done guys on a reasonably solid session for the 1st wind in a while. Envyous but fatherhood (and sleep)takes precedence. Smile

Not sure when i'll get out again in the near future but i'll have fingers crossed.

Keep 'em coming!

Hey Baldy,

Wondered when I might see you post a reply. Is the lack of sleep really due to the new arrival or worrying if the Sonic 85 is gonna help me beat a few of your PB's?Laughing I'm sure its the baby and I hope all is going well.

Gotta say I was pretty happy with the results given the lack of wind. Dunno what the gusts actually were but no green arrows for Melville Water on Seabreeze between 5:15 and 5:30.
