Canton Beach, NSW, AU- c 25-32kts c 6 " short sharp chop. Read 29 + 33kts on the beach.Totally over powered.1st sail I've never even tried to gybe but just bailed out at each end..Laughing 3.8m + 78ltre Tabou Pocket wave with 18cm fin. Haven't ridden the 78 since Jan so not a good day to get to know it! Went diagonally sideways a lot..suspectd I didn't have enough front foot pressure but not game to get any further forward in case I got thrown around the front.

Only lasted c 1/2 hr but considering the last few sails have eneded up with heart plaps + ambos etc I'm stoked to have survived and stayed healthy ..+ got a PB!Smile

I was sailing like a sack of spuds most of the time not game to commit fully to the harness as so overpowered.Got 27.6kts last season in chop on someone elses GPS so should be able to get 28kts in ideal conditions..Keen to get a normal lit up session in flat water as I haven't had a decent long  20kt+ session since I got the GPS.

Valentine, NSW, AU

Exocet Sting 134, Mauisails TR8 8.4, Select RS7 51 - Wind SW 10-15 kts

Rigged the 6.6 and 111L board initially but one run out and back had me rigging the big stuff instead.  Wind never came in at Valentine like elsewhere on the coast.  Had some good gybing practice around a few markers.  Very cold but at least the rain stopped.  Good to sail with Big tom.

Warners Bay, NSW, AU

The southerly hit south creek at about 11.45 and I went out on my fanatic ray 102 with an overdrive 6.2 . It was gusty and the wind was shifting around a lot but I managed one absolutely mental run for a 2 sec PB in some pretty choppy water. I wasn't really enjoying the conditions on slalom gear so I put on my frilly whilte blouse and went out on my tabou freestyle wave board with a gaastra manic 5.7 wavesail. That was much more enjoyable! I had a really great afternoon of bump and jump and the tabou was bopping along in the 28's despite being a wave board. Freestlye waveboards are such a great concept I love mine. So yeah, the 2 sec pb is on the fanatic ray and the 28 knt 5x10's are the waveboard. I finally got my alpha's and nm's sorted thank god. Thanks to greg K for his help. I always knew I was doing good alpha's and it's nice to make it official. The problem was software, not hardware. Switching from gps results to realspeed fixed the issue. I finally chucked it in when I became so buggered I started losing my balance and co-ordination lol.

Congrats on your PBs Sue. Sounds like the conditions were challenging. Jeeze, I have never ever even seen a sail under 4m!

Correction: ".....should be able to get over 28 30 knots in ideal conditions...."      Aim high Cool

Good one Sue, if possible you should have hung around and sailed in the afternoon. The wind moderated a bit and was quite steady. It was comfortable for me on a 5.5m though a slightly bigger sail would have been the go. More importantly the weather cleared and we had a fair bit of sunshine.

This custom Weedy is a 25 cm , it is pretty thick , its exaclty what i was after , a shorter thick fin with the same power as my standard 29 .Its  super stiff ,%100 carbon .It did not dissapoint , never let go once , plenty of power , and no slouch as i did a 35 on it on my 59 AB .

Thanks everyone! Only just found this page..insert embarassed icon..

I would have liked to stick around but I was using my arms more than normal as I was ready to try & unhook at any time..They went like jelly.. I also thought Id quit while I was ahead as it was the first sail I'd had recently where I hadn't had heart palps..

Now wheres that 20 -25kt Sw in flat water minus weed so I can really try and get my PB's!

This time of year it seems to be either 10-18kts or ballistic..

The 20 to 25 knot SW wind was at Canton that afternoon. It would have been better if you turned up around 2pm. The rain cleared, the sun shined, and the wind moderated.

Greg that fin looks the goods. Would love a run with it in the falcon when we catch up again. I need something small for my Falcon 99 (62 wide), and also for my 113 (69 wide) for the Queens mudbank. A couple of these short fatties might be the go......

GK - thats the shit i am talking about! I use a 38cm weedy in my 113 Falcon and there is no way i can sail the mudbank with a fin that deep. Would love a run on the 32 in bertha for sure. Will get a couple off ya mate if they work well in the big falcons

Thanks Astrid.

Aj you should see my 3.2m sail.. The first time I rigged it at Canton someone came over and said ' Jeez..isn't that cute.. 2 sails have got together and made a baby.." lol's''

Unfortunately it s 90's no twist twitchy thing. I would usually have been using it this day but at the Guy Cribb clinic Guy suggested I use the larger 3.8 m as it had more control..The 3.2m does need consistment 30kts + which we don't often get that as when it's that strong its usually ballistic and gusting to 60kts..ugh..
