3850 days ago Desperately searching flat water. Had plenty of wind today, averages around 35 mph, but it came too late. Made the trip to Egg Island with Dean, but the second sand bar was fully submerged, with no flat water to be found.I felt overpowered on my 5.8 - too many light wind days recently, I think. Was a bit apprehensive of the way back through the pretty big chop, but it went well. Not a ride I'll forget anytime soon, though.
Had the most fun after switching to wave gear (4.5/96) and playing with the waves, but was overpowered on the 4.5. A 3.7 would have been just right.
Forecast had the wind at 22-25 mph. I was telling everyone I that I expected it to pick up to 35 gusting into the 40s, but I guess I did not really believe myself.

3849 days ago 2 categories Not a good day at Egg Island... Our sandbar was underwater, our wind had too much South in it, and my 6.6 meter sail was not the right call (in rough water with a 30 knot wind)... I put down one slingshot into heavy chop for a decent peak speed, but that was it.
This session was over before it began. Digging a 75' ditch the day before was a big mistake. My back was not up for a Kalmus voovdoo chop session.
