Peel st Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU c 15-20kts NE - 115 Xcross ( 75cms wide) - 6.6m KA Koncept + 30 cm weedie

Best sail for ages! Made up for the last 2 crappy ones.. Felt like an expert got heaps of planing gybes  ( disappointed in my alpha expected a pb ). I think the best gybe I did may have been too wide and not counted..Followed Mat in and watched where he went and bore off in the flatwater. I watched how much he oversheeted on entry and did the same and the first time the rigs  gone light! Flatwwater certainly makes gybing easy! A few dodgy footplacements on the change but the board was forgiving enough to get by..The rocket will sort me out next time I use it! lol's

Should have used the 95 but didn't want to go back in and change. A PB for that board never got over 25.5 before and the GPS read 27.55..Effortless too - certainly easier with no chop and really bearing off.

Only lasted a bit over an hour and wore out.. should have gone back out again as I would have got a pb for distance..Great spot!

Heaps out - Pugsly , Hugh , Greg , Mat ( broke his mast), Bruce , Tibor ,Mick Ray + others..

I usually hate the 6.6m and find it hard to work upwind with it - usually use s 38cm with that combo but used a 30cm for the shallows and only spun out once. I don't know whether I am rigging the Koncept better or just that my sailing is improving but I am starting to really enjoy it!

Oh I got a pb for the hour ! Smile If I hadn't jumped off to wash my glasses so i could see it would have been even better..Wink

Wow what a day. Nice NE about 15-20 knots & heaps of  flat water. What a difference flat makes,  felt like you could go on accelerating if only a bit more wind. Mick, Tibor, Gregh & others all having a good sail.CASL62, MUF 28, 7.6 sail.  First time over 30 with the big sail, very happy chappie.

Coal Point, NSW, AU

Quick after work sail at Coalie. CA70 and 7.8m It was blowing westerly at Marmong and even Toronto but a light NE was making its way just as far as Coal Point. Sailed up to the slips where 3 guys were out.

Two young chaps packing up after a nice sail

Boy Greg you certainly get the miles up! Got to make the most of your sailing time I suppose.. Thanks everyone it was really enjoyable sail.

Congrats Bruce on the PB's! Wow 3 of them!

I noticed the carpark cam of you & Lajos (?) Andrew..Seeing your tracks makes me want to get out and explore more. I love this GPS thing but boy it doesn't take long to lose all that upwind ground when you bear off!

Thanks Windxtasy. I was thinking re my gybes last night as I was lying in bed on painkillers for arms and shoulders that were aching and biceps like little rocks..Wink. I am improving as I used to only be able to do planing gybes on my 'good' side ( starboard tack) on small gear ( 4.8m  or <) and strap to strap. Last night I was doing them on my bad side , step gybing with my 2nd biggest sail..Tongue out. One thing I noticed yesterday was that I was hanging from the boom and staying out of the harness until I got settled then into the footstraps which I think is faster but would be a bit dicey in chop..

I think a lot of my sailing problems stem from lack of strength and fitness as generally I don't have the strength to hold onto the sail like that and rely on the harness 100%.Also going upwind I often feel like I can't pull the sail on with my body as much as I need  but I noticed after coming back from a wek of XCD skiing I could do it with the big 7.2m no hassles..Embarassed

Yes and mine is 75 wide so I'm pleased with the speed.

I should have got the 95 Rocket but I didn't want to go back in. I'm going to have to try and use the 6.6m with the 95 as it will extend it's use. Just have to make sure I can uphaul it - it seems to be easier to pop the cams the right way than the NX so maybe I can. Wouldn't want to try it off Coal but at Peel st you can stand up most of the time can't you?

Still the Xcross is a lot of fun!
