First time at Waquoit Bay. Had hoped for a long day at Kalmus since the forecast looked great, but it just did not happen. Arrived to some white caps, which completely disappeared by the time I had rigged. The wind at Kalmus stayed around 10 for the rest of the day. I hate decoupling! The Waquoit Bay showed wind around 20, so Nina, Drew, Jason & I decided to go there - first time for all of us. Jason did not make it through the dirt road and decided to around, but three of us arrived to some good wind. I hit the water first on my freestyle board. Nice power, so I got the 117l slalom board to go for an hour. Got one half-decent run, then the wind dropped. Fooled around a bit longer, got a few marginal planing runs, but nothing good. Even on the best run, I did not have enough power to go deep downwind.

Still, a new spot sailed on a warm and sunny day, so I'm happy. I know understand that Nikita goes there for freestyle - flat and shallow for quite a while. I think the spot has decent speed potential. Hope to prove this soon - it's getting too chilly for freestyle (at least for me - don't ask Nina!).

Peter, I don't know if Waquoit is all that great for speed. When it gets to 30kts (proper speed conditions!), it becomes fairly choppy. It's flatter at the far end, but wind becomes patchy. I did some slalom sailing there, but never had super speeds. Lewis bay much better, plus other spots. For freestyle it's great!
