6.0 Simmer 2XC, Tabou Rocket 115, FO Nitro 38

Really fun sail... a bit under cooked at times on the 6m, but the gusts were still nice. Seemed extra choppy for a NE'r, but I found some refuge a bit more up wind for a couple of runs. Will have to try for a NM out to the the end of the runway next time.

Lots of crew out... jetskis and sailors. It was super busy near the beach with quite a few learners to gybe around :) Always good to chat with George and quick heya to Remi at the end. A few other familiar faces about... everyone was smiling Smile

Hope we get another day like this before work goes back.

Nicely powered up, a bit much in the stronger gusts but the NE is so up and down id rather stay on the biggish gear. Should have swapped for the RS4 when it was strongest. 35+ must be a PB for this board.

A ot of people (40+) on the water, great to see.

Great sail this arvo. Got there a bit late, but had a great time out mostly chasing Artur around. Great to finally meet George!

Chose to use my old RAF 6.2 today to ease the pressure on my sore achilles which worked. Was still pretty quick, but felt not as stable on the broad reaches fro speed. I doubt the 33 knots is true though. My GPS said 59.6kph which is around high 31s? Not sure where it for the extra 1.5knots??

Cheers,

Adrian

Dean please be aware of other sailors. You turned down straight on me over at the runway at one stage and if I hadn't have stomped on my board you would have hit me. Remember to look before gybing and making abrupt changes of direction!!

George, you flatter me, but insult Remi Wink hehe. Would like to get a distance PB, but my bad elbow keeps letting me down. Thanks for the words of encouragement guys... your advice and help is always welcomed and appreciated. Cheers, Nige

Adrian, to convert kms int nms divide by 2 and add 10%. So 59.6 : 2 = 29.8 + 2.98 = 32.78, pretty close to KA72 result. Also you can set your gt31 to use nautical miles instead of kms...

Sorry to make an arse of myself George, but I have already, so may as well do it again.  There is 1852m in a nautical mile.  So 59.6/1.852=32.18.Smile

Congrats on your PB Nigel.  Remi your where hooking what is the width of the RS5?  Just shows your have to sail quite over powered in this spot to get through the lulls and plane out of the gybes.

I agree with you Dean, mine is just a rule of thumb....

I just use an old Garmin Geko. It does not have dopler in the files (though I think it uses soppler for the speed reading on the screen). So I think there may have been a little error in the peak speed based on the position. Somtimes it reads higher... sometimes lower.

I want to buy something better, but waiting for something better to come out. I would like something wrist mounted. I have a Garmin Forerunner wrist watch GPS that is water proof, but it does not allow the sample interval to be set, so uses smart sampling, so no good for 2S.

Happy New Years everyone!
