Leighton Beach, WA, AU

Sailing in the open ocean is very different. eventually got things sorted out but the wind was alot less than what it looked like.

Melville Beach, WA, AU

Late arvo sesh at Melville.

Only had a limited choice of gear, cos I've packed away most of my kit for the impending move to Darwin, so had to use the M112 + 7.6TR9 + 38 CL Sl2 combo, fully expecting I would be under-juiced.

Which is pretty much what transpired, underdone for most of the sesh (shoulda been on the 135 + 8.4), and a little disappointed that this will be my last sail in Perth for a year or so. Undecided

On balance I can't complain...managed four sessions the past two weeks in the midst of an inter-state move, which is about what I hoped for.

Packing this combo for Darwin, with a view to some Green Island raids when the forecast is good, so hopefully I'll be posting again mid-year after some GI magic Cool

Great change in scenery with some great people. So flat on the estuary, wind didnt quite come in as expected but still a pleasure to sail on.

AC1 and JC2 both out for some flat stuff too and also Stroppo and Rod from CST. Big thanks again Stroppo for the loan of the Delta, i shall do some button clicking and get one in my kit.

Pinnaroo Point, WA, AU Great fun dogging the Pinnaroo Point moguls. 6.5m easy 125 Rocket 37 jp weed were just right for the whole time. I did one run from Hillarys to Mullaloo and it felt so fast I was thinking about doing ocean hour but I did not want to end up below Ocean Reef.

'Top Ten Fangy Day' with great company... Thanks a lot Ross for the Delta fin and the guided tour of the glass carpet. Very happy with the fin - looking forward to trying it again in some stronger wind. Smile

Fangland with Firie Bob, Fangy, Geoff, Ross, Decrepit, Fin and others, for a casual sail.

Bit under cooked with a 7.4 free ride sail at times. Started with a large board 135, and 23 delta and came in to change down to a 105. However ol fat pricks like me need to learn, just cos a good gust came through....... once, doesnt mean its staying that strongInnocent

105's doesn't  beach start well at the smooth stuff endFrown Had to walk it out a few times to avoid sinking the tail and banging the new fin along the bottom to get going. Watched somebody else do same, but he initiated a water start type aproach in ankle deapth water, so used that with some level of improvement. But next time, will go just one side board down, and maybe be a little adventuress, an go a sail size up.

Was a nice day on the water, complete with a last minute invite to step Sons place down there for a BBQ as I was driveing out. Meant a late drive home, but even that was good, as stuff all trafic around and I dont think I had to change the cruise control the whole way home, except for the Narrow bridge section 80k's limit. Cool

Leighton Beach, WA

Afternoon testing gear with Norts - Andrew also out there blasting about for his first time on the ocean in Perth Cool

Trying to find a good setup for winter NWs and strong seabreezes - as an addition to flat water sailing.

Thanks 2nd Wind for the loan of the FSW - great board but perhaps overly settled on the water - something between that and a slalom board would be spot on.

Nice session team! Increased our score in all categories. Lunny and JC 2 sharing the speed beans at Liptons. A nice pair of alphas from Lunny and Geoff, and some handy distances too. It's easy to keep going in that smooth at Coodanup isn't it? You just don't want to stop.

JJ, we'd still like you to post even if you are ocean sailing, please. Smile

JJ, might be time to go back to a Futura. Ocean sailing is where they come into their own. Speed plus control.
