What an arvo with Steve and Brad. Arrived at moreton with it honking, 6.2 straight up.

Congrats on the great numbers Steve and Brad, Very impressive Brad with that peak.

Rough trip home in the dark on low tide going blind with the Boat Gps playing up.

Thanks for the superman dive to save Mika Girl Steve, and the cold beers and snacks Brad.

Another trip to Days Gutter Moreton Island. After our trip on monday i said to the boys that mid 40 peak speeds would be possible there. Didnt think the opportunity would come around so quickly.

The day started with amature hour. Arived to find Steve forgot his mast. I took my foot off my sail while rigging to tape up the clamps on my dody boom only to have my sail take off and cartwheel down the beach breaking all 3 reflex batterns.

Apart from the insane leeach flutter & looking fairly ugly the sail still preformed well.

Max speed on my IS 80 was around 41.5 then borrowed Steves FF50 speed to get my best 5 x10s.

Typically the wind was at its best when the tide was racing back in making the bear offs pretty insane. Angle is fairly tight and requires big bear aways into the rough to get the peaks. Making it difficult to get really good 5 x10.

I've has a few adventures with these guys now, this one we'll be talking about for while.

IS 80 6.2 R6 & 30 bp then FF50 speed & 25cm Hot rod

Days Gutter, Moreton Island, QLD, AU

20-30kts SW

Awesome day with Brad and Leo.  Credit to Leo for discovering and pushing us to try this place on a big Westerly.  A decent boat such as Leo's 21ft'r is essential, so thanks to Leo for providing the inspiration and transportation.

Brad said this place was good for mid 40s 2sec and he proved it today.  Nice bank about 1.5km long, bit square so bear offs are into the channel, but at least you can then sail upwind to the top of the course easy enough.

Started the session realising i'd forgot my masts!  what a d*#khead!  Big thanks again to Leo to coming to my rescue with a spare mast, and sacrificing himself by using his wave rdm mast in his overdrive.  It didn't look pretty but Leo made it work.  Look out when Leo gets his 6.2 and 5.6 reflexes, and speedboards.

First 2 runs on is87/6.2/32Z.  Wow knew it was gunna be a good day after Leo and i did 30kts going upwind to the top of the course, first run of the day.  Then our first downwind run we both did 38s without much effort!  Then i swapped boards, first ever go on the 2015 Fanatic Falcon Speed 50.  Nice, felt good, gybes nice, went upwind just fine.  25Hotrod fin.  However i was slower with the speedboard, about 1 or 2 knots?  Avg 36.5kts, best 37.5kts.  Speedboards feel wierd to me, not used to them.  Would have maybe 1hr total of lifetime experience on a speedboard.  I know how to push a slalom board fast, but not a speedboard.  Just need more TOW i guess.

Swapped back to 87/6.2/32Z.  Hitting the wall though at 38kts, board getting too flighty every time i tried to load up.  Was sheeting out most of the time, So changed fin to 29HR. now 87/6.2/29.  Wow what a difference.  I could sheet in and push hard without the board tailwalking.  Upwind suffered a bit but tolerable.  Speeds quickly lifted 2-3kts, cracked 40, then got the 41.7kts.  PB for me on a slalom board.  Stoked.

Spent the rest of the session taking some photos of Brad and Leo running down the bank having a ball.  Brad did what he does best and pulled off the big one, 45.6kts.  Well done mate, you are a legend.  So a great day, my best ever session in Moreton Bay.  Heres some photos.
