Pelican Point, WA, AU 54 Manta, 4.9K, 23 WS

When the wind was late coming in I didn't have time for a Mandurah trip and Taemi was at Peli Point so I went there. She did really well getting up and going in the strong wind, once she starts using a harness I will have to sign her up!

It was good to have some strong wind for once. I can't remember the last time I went speed sailing. It wasn't very flat at Peli so I was pretty happy with the numbers. 7 runs with peaks over 30

Melville Beach, WA, AU Bit of a weird one. A hard weird session. Was definitely windy. Probably a bit windy for me and my 6.6 but I gave it a crack. So many tears and rips in the 6.6 that it is beyond repair. 97/6.6(retired)/27

What a cracker that was! Booted in nicely not long into it and the wind kept building.

Thought I'd try pulling the rear straps back a notch today. So surprising how just 1cm makes a noticeable feeling, just that little bit more in touch with the fin.

So the Windtech delivers the goods again, stoked with the speeds for a 90litreSmile

Great company out there today with quite a few cheers and smiles, memorable for sure.

An early end to an excellent session when I pushed too far into the smooth and snapped the fin bolt. Fortunately I purchased the "FangyFin Product Care Package" which includes a custom replacement bolt, back massage and voucher for an eybrow shaping. Too late to get back out.

What a day! Got down early for once to meet Mandurah Mobbers Hardie and Elmo. Lunny and Andrew soon arrived after. Wind looked moderate so they went 6.2 and I went 5.5. Once we got out the wind started to really boot in. Went for a few runs and plateaud around 36 knots. Approached the run when I hit something big, probably the huge stingray we saw swimming around. I ended up landing on the front of the boom thigh first which resulted in a big dead leg. Sat in the water for a while till the pain passed. Thought its going to be black and blue tomorrow. Sailed back in to change down to the 5m as the 5.5 and the enigma boom felt very heavy.

Headed back out for a few more runs but this time the 5m felt a lot more stable even though I was still well lit. The chop had increased with the increasing tide so not much improvment in speeds until I caught a good gust and went broad as I could go. Went for a few alphas but had to call it a day as I knew I pay for it tomorrow with my bunged leg.

Great to get down to Liptons for a windy day that was supposed to happen in December. Good to share the stoke with the mobbers afterwards.

Woohoo how good was that!

After a shout out from Kenny I headed down to Liptons not expecting too much and when I arrived no one was out and Lunny and Ken were chatting under a tree. Well after a quick discussion it was decided that conditions were probably about as good as they were going to get so we rigged and hit the water, after a few runnis across to Pt Grey, the wind booted in and liptons corner was on, after a few runs in the mid 36,ers, Lunny and Elmo were reporting 40,s and I thought bugger this I need some weight so went in and had a chocolate bar and a bottle of water, with at leats another 280g on board things could only get better. A bit more down haul and out I went, the mission was a 38. The next run was a 37 and I found that screaming like a mad woman on the Bear off did the trick. I was now determined to get a 38. Lunny suggested moving the mast track back and letting off a bit of out haul this certainly helped and the next few runs were high 36 and felt good. Finally I hit the speed run with a good gust, screamed like a mad woman again was smashing down the run when I saw Ken lay down a sweet gybe and started heading up wind I realized that I needed to change direction or I could possibly crash into him and clearly my screaming was not enough to get him out the way so a little shimmy was required. At the end of the run I checked my watch and it showed a Max of 41 WOW!

Thanks Ken the change in direction must have done the trick..

Patrik 92; Reflex 6.2 Tribal WS 23. Probably a bit overpowered but certainly as Lunny put it the Christmas Eve blow that never happened!

The day started with full optimism only to be dashed by the BOM and reports coming back that the Huey was doing a houdini. With a less then stellar forecast for Mandurah i decided to go for a sail at Melville instead. Whilst there i decided to grab the new Delta from Slowie, who after speaking with Tom at Coods said it was already 20-25knts wtf. So drove straight to coods to try the new fin.Started rigging the new used 6.4m(Thanks Marty) on the 87l. Was warmly greeted by Fangy who said hello and something about the park is off? A few coming in off the water were starting to change down boards so decided to plug in the W49 instead which was a perfect match for the new Tribal delta fin. After about an hour, I noticed that the bottom cam was broken and hence the poor bottom shape. So came in and rigged the 5.8 instead, which was probably the better sail for the conditions. Found it really hard to find 'flat' and gust but was still a great session with some master speed classes being dished out by the heavy weights. First go on the new Tribal delta and was very impressed. It actually felt like a normal fin going upwing into chop. Not many of these windy days this summer but hoping this is the start of some good seabreezes.

Evening shift arrived at 6pm with nearly all off the water and a dieing breeze pity as by all accounts it was a good day on Melville but missed most of it, another day maybe, good to see the rest of the team making the most of the brilliant conditions.

Nice little session at PW. If the wind had booted in a little earlier when the tide was nice it would have been perfect, but still about as good as it gets at PW.

Looks like I should have driven to Mandurah! Well done on the PB's everyone!

Carlisle St, Safety Bay, WA, AU

Safety Bay Slalom

M112 + 7TR9 + 33 Tribal WS.

Heaps of wind.  Rounds 1-2 I sailed like a kook.

Round 3 I finally found some form and got a bullet in fleet 3.

Promoted to Fleet 2, I was racing hard and in the top 3 approaching the last gybe mark when I had a massive over-the-bars and snapped my mast Yell

And that was that.  It was getting seriously windy as I packed up, probably approaching 30K, but there was a kite event in the pond so runs down the bar weren't really an option.  Probably a missed opportunity, I love racing, but today was probably a day for speed Undecided

Wow, what a great team turnout, and look at all those fast speeds and PBs! That is a very healthy set of scores for one session.

Kenny and Tailwind, sensational! Very fast 2 sec and 5X and some very slick corners too! Andrew, a 2 sec jellybean with such a top field of sailors out is a real feather in your cap. A couple of very happy sailors there! You must both be very happy you made the call to go to Liptons. I am sorry I couldn't join you.

Lovely nm PB, Flatchat - Pinnaroo nm of the day, and Remery, congrats on your PB nm also, just a smidgeon short of 30. That is flying!

Lunny leading the way with Pinnaroo speed of the day again, getting that Silver Bullet really dialled in and living up to its name.

Well done, everybody!

For anyone who is interested in the fate of the 7.5m stink boat washed up on the foreshore at Nairns yesterday. The couple who own the boat was out on Friday night in the Estuary when the motors and then electrics failed. They threw out an anchor that appears to have been totally pointless, and ended up on the foreshore at Nairns.

The salvage crew got the boat out into deep water this afternoon. They used a water pump to cut a channel from the boat out to the deeper water. They then used a Landcruiser to drag the boat out to floating depth. At $4k for the salvage, I am glad it wasn’t my boat ( mind you driving about in the estuary probably isn’t going to be too good for the Landcruiser either)

They have left behind a channel out to the deeper water…it will be interesting to see how long it lasts.

Hey Marty, the end cap of the batten near cam, fell apart. Quite common on NP race sails. Easy fix but no shape in the bottom of sail made going deep of the wind harder.

The sail felt like it was still new and needed to stretch out. The runs I had with it were very stable until I lost tension on the cam. Can't wait to the next big blow.
