fangy (23414km):
2630 days ago After a few days of strong easterlies with a high pressure system trying to ridge through, the water levels here look like we had hosted a Jamboree for northern NSW cotton farms. The flats here have been high and dry. So it was to good to see some water back for a change.
Anita, Woody, Joe V, Bono and Pacey (for the late shift), joined in. Huey was not so keen to join the party, and so initially I had to grovel around. But eventually there was enough for the Windtech SB64, Simmer SCR 7.8 and FF24 combo.
I got some nice runs and was pretty sure I topped 40 in every category. However when I got back to beach I noticed the latch on my Pelican case had popped open and dumped my GW-52 somewhere in the estuary. Bugger.
I went down at sunset to see if it had washed ashore, but no luck. I will have a gander tomorrow morning to see if I can find it, but I think that is yet another piece electronics I have donated to the estuary…I guess I had better add my name to the list for a Motion.
Despite that fail, the session ended up being a pleasant enough cruise. The SB64/production version FF24 combo worked nicely with the big sail. Once there was enough breeze, the low-end grunt of the fin provided enough grip and lift to get the board up and cruising nicely. Today, I played around with mast foot settings. With the foot fully forward, I noticed a tendency to overload the fin and create a spin out. As soon as I moved back 2cm I could no longer trigger a spin out even when I was really trying. It's good fun experimenting with a new toy! All in all, it was a bit expensive, but still a Top Ten Fangy Day.
