Sandy Point, Vic, AU

Motion GPS 10Hz data converted to .SBP and uploaded via KA72 to see how it went. Looks almost identical to results from GPS-Results V6.170. Cool

Well, it's a long time since I have tried to sail in that much wind. It was verging on Manic! 25-30 knots gusting 35-45!. Smoke on the water line going across in bullet waves. You know it's 40+ when the water right against the sandbar goes white!

A couple of times I tried to start and was hit by a bullet that just turned me inside out and slammed me back in the water instantly! I was waiting for the pause between the gusts to try and get a run. Embarassed

The carpark sandbar was just a little too square at the start but the wind bends a bit near the dunes and that was the fastest bit every time.

Afrer 5 or 6 runs I retreaed unhurt. I didnt want to push my luck!

It was great to have Mat back to sail with and allowed me to watch his 2019 5.2m Koncept close up, to see how it was reacting to the gusts. It looked great, but it gave me a few ideas to work on for 2020. ;-)

CA40, Tribal 18cm speed, 2019 KA Koncept speed 5.2m
