Harding Rd, Albany, WA, AU

Tabou 3s 96l, Loftsails Switchblade 6.8m, Maui Ultra Weed 28cm & Starboard Sonic 85, Delta 19cm

Decided to give the area where we usually sail in an Easterly a try & see what it's like when the wind comes from the other direction. Started with the Tabou & floated off down towards the bank to try & get away from the lee of the land. Wasn't to bad actually, wind was a bit up & down but there was some reasonably flatish water. Wind started with a bit of North in it but swung back to the West later. The tide was around the 0.8m to 0.9m mark & I did drag a fair bit through the weed on the bank at various stages. Think I manged to get the Tabou above 30knots ia a bit of a squal, finally!

Came back & had a bit of a break before deciding to give the Sonic a try with the 19cm Delta. Had a few good runs both side of the weed bank before the wind started to get really patchy & I thought better to head back before I got stuck over the other side of the harbour on a non floaty board. Tide was also starting to drop a bit & even the Delta was dragging in places.

I think there is a bit of potential to get a bit more speed in the right conditions. A decent low parked below Albany so the wind doesn't drop out so much and a bit higher tide about 1m or so & you could easily go faster.

Thanks to Shane for dropping down for a bit of a chat & making sure I didn't pike it & go eat coffee & cake instead Smile

Hey well done guys!!!!!! Full row of jelly beans for you both, and 2 PBs Jeremy.

Glad some of us are still keen, The Fin and I spent the arvo going through the junk in my shed, but there was only one short gust that would have been any good for speed.

Thanks all :)

Windxstacy Monday was cold, today was a heatwave in comparison as it made it into double figures.

Ah bummer about the photos Shane, maybe another time.

Fangy the hour was all I really wanted ;)

We may have to go on a bit of a stake pulling exercise when the easteries arrive as I noticed a few out there. Mainly up towards the NM starting area.
