I got down late because of a Ski Club AGM. I skipped out early and arrive at dead low tide. Mat and John had some runs on the board so my plan was a few quick and rough Alphas and then some speed runs. The very first Alpha felt very sweet so I just did a couple more and headed up the the speed run. I was getting 36 peaks speeds on the IS87, 5M Koncept and TM speed26 and the water was very rough so I thought I would try the IS50/KA assy 20 combo. It was actually initially slower, not seeming to handle the chop as well, but eventually I got up the courage to let it all hang out and got a couple of 37's and 38's.
Buy the time I got out almost everyone had left and this helped with the Alphas a lot. The gybes did not feel quite as good but the speed on the straights was better and I could pick my spot to gybe without dodging traffic and board wakes
