Bubs (476km):
5871 days ago Well once again another great day out at Goolwa South Lake with other guys as well. Good to get out two weeks in a row. Gave Dad the GPS at the end of the session as well so we could post as a team. Obviousily he sailed a lot further than 4km and probably was going a lot faster earlier when it was windier. Still awesome PB's for him which his pretty happy with.
Anyway first sessions out on my new S-type 93L board. So happy with it, just can't believe how much nicer it is to sail and all. Just great, feel so much more confident with it. So yeah a great session out with some nice PB's and i did actually record GPS max speed of just over 26 knots but the 2 sec thing cut it down unfortunatley. For once i came home with no injuries to report which is good lol, only cuts and scratches all over my feet from the rocks and reefs in the way.
Absolutely no wind early, dead calm well and truely. The all of a sudden it went from rigging a 7.8 to actually rigging the 7.0 to a 6.6 to a 5.8 (and i would have rigged the 5.0 at times but i was just to lazy. probably gusting from 5 knots to 20 maybe. Just annoying but in the gusts was awesome. I was overpowered in the gusts and underpowered in the lulls but ah well. Pretty choppy and shit to, no alph channel today on the N-NW'er.
Gear i used was at first the 114L Naish Supercross with the 6.6m KA Kontrol. Then downsized to the 93L Starboard S-type with the 5.8m Gaastra Grind (who another guy out had the exact same sail in a different colour lol). Dad used his 158L JP Freeride with the 7.0m Gaastra GTX at first, then took the 6.6m KA Kontrol of my hands when i went to rigg the smaller sail.
Dad also took a load of pictures when i was out without him at one stage. Took a few of everyone so go have a look, i'll be posting them on seabreeze in a minute.
Will put my GPS track for the day up on seabreeze as well.
Cheers, Bubs
EDIT: Just looked at the graph for hindmarsh island weather station. said it was 20 knots gusting to around 30 knots at times. Didn't think it was that windy, but you never know i guess lol...
