A big day out for two of Team Gybe Turkey!  My first sail at Goolwa since it morphed into the alpha speed channel.  Met Dave M. as we were rigging.  The course was broad and choppy, and really really windy, 30+ knots on the water, 38 according the web reading.  Some runs were sheer terror - especially the one were I bagged out my sail slightly as an "experiment".

Used my trusty Caveman b+j board, with a 30 cm select fin and Grind 5.0 sail.

Bagged a few PB's!  What is it with that alpha 500?  I've done better down at Kingston Park.  Those gybes I did go for seemed to come off OK, but not by the numbers.  I'll make my next goal a 20 k alpha 500.

POSTSCRIPT - I've just checked the rules for alpha racing. Now I get it. At the channel, for my fastest gybes at the end of the run, I paid no attention to getting back to where I started. In fact, I did the opposite because the course was broad and there was need to get across to the other side of the channel on the way back to clear the course. The alpha times were for my "little" gybes at the top of the couse.
