Green IS-wind was better than we expected so half  way thru my 1st run on the exo tb 103& rss 7.8mk I turned around ,went back to shore & changed down to the 6.2 RSS.Comfy cruisy day with the aim of clocking up NMs & Hrs .

Partially succeeded...

Good fun but wrecked .

Started on Green IS with the EXO warp S 120 /9m2 warp/40cm production fin/camel back /flares & energy bars.Wind was solid 18-20 so felt uncomfortable especially going across the wind where I rapidly discovered I was way underfinned.Spinout/sliding was terrible & saps so much energy ...

Aim was to clock up ks & Hrs but could only get comfortable bearing off -as a consequence lossed so much ground down wind that I couldnt get back to the Island.Made the decision mid morning to sail home to Clifton Beach around 20nm away so ventured off.

Found some great water on the way -western section of Arlington had some really smooth water between the rolling swell so got a nice NM on this gear...Out in the open it was very rough so lots of concentration needed.

I've always considered this board /pads/straps comfy but today less so !!

Calloused hands/4 eroded areas on feet from straps/pads/really sore lateral epicondyles but 2 PBs !!! Happy Smile

Cam u mad bastard Wink some impressive tracks and speed especially for a 9.0.  Would love to get back over to cairns next year, and put in a few longer runs next time. hah. Also now Im wondering what my 9.8 can do on my large sx.... 31 seems like an interesting target.

Last time I carried flares was for the ledge to lancelin...

Is there a good, reliable, safe way to carry them?

Well done, what an effort from both of you.  Excellent to see the PB's and great speeds using the 9.0m Cam, very impressive.

Tim you must try it !!The combo felt really good bearing off -there must have been 5-6klms of smooth water in between the rolling swell on Western Arlington sections -So much fun & will definitely go back on smaller gear to try for NMs(which are hard to get up here)

NEBs-good question -I had one in the side pocket of the camel back but discovered it had fallen out by the time I got home -had mobile phone in aqua pak as back up .

Kellie we used the Voucher from GISW-thanks!!!My 14 yr old scored a complete outfit with jewels to match !!

Kimba a big congrats to you on the NM -envious +++How far from Adelaide is the Clayton Channel ??

Peter-was hoping to get to 200klms but holes in feet started to hurt badly so called it quits .

Izaak we've somehow snuck in front this morning -sorry !!!

WOW awesome Cam you mad bastard, you should write a book one day "The Adventures of a Mad Doctor" Wink I can just see the look on Cath's face when she looked out the front window and saw you sailing out front and no Locky Surprised

Locky were you worried what might have happened to Cam, where he was and why he wasn't on the boat home, or could you see a black BMW with "Locky" personalised number plates Laughing

Cam after talking to you on the phone last night I was suprised you had enough time at Green to do 160+, you didn't tell me you took the long way home. I sailed for an hour or so at Yorkey's and thought my 6.8 was ideal, but then you always have a couple of metres up on me ha.

Big congrats on you PB's guys, well done Cool Cam I'm going to have to raise you a couple of K's now Wink

Hey Cam, the Clayton Channel is 10 minutes on from Goolwa and the Alpha channel which is about an hour from Adelaide(hills).  Boggy was an hour also, I am pretty sure we all have to drive, walk and lug gear that extra distance to get to those magic speed spots that every state has.  But it's all worth it, thats why we all keep doin it!

Well done Cam,very impressed with that long reach. Haven,t found any pads yet that don,t hurt after a few 100 ks, but the advantage we has is that our feet go numb with cold in the first 1hr. Try spots tape over the top of your feet to stop the holes. Next time you,ll get the 200.

Good work Guys, Cam you must stop wrecking gear and body parts mate, I gave my lateral epicondyles a good workout in a rowdy Airlie Beach bar last night so couldn't sail today, ps what's lateral epicondyles ??Embarassed

Lateral epicondyles are the elbow bits affected by "tennis elbow"...!!!Classic windsurfer injury as a consequence of holding on to the boom with activated forearm muscles for prolonged periods.

Feeling much better today

Thanks for all the kind words fellow competitors

I have what my needle jabber calls golfer's elbow, similar to tennis elbow I think, and caused I think when I went to short harness lines for awhile and the Yorkeys chop. Heaps better now with longer lines Smile

thanks guys :) I had a bit of fun, but mostly impressed how cam made it all the way home. feet need to recover, that day didn't help the pre existing hole in my foot and other cuts and small infectious areas in between my toes :(  :( fighting it out with betadine and other creams at the moment. ha ha all good fun though :) :)

hey Firie, got the same problem. Golfer's Elbow or as its known to those who know, medial epicondylitis. I was blaming the old PC mouse for the problem cos I ain't been sailing that much. Or is it something that gets you after you turn 50Yell Got to be some drugs out there that will fix it one hopes. Also will follow Gaz's advice and lengthen the harness lines.
