Chris Parkinson (1758km): 15-25 knots SW @ Shoal Bay Auckland NZ. Naish 105, 5.8 RS4, Drake 34. Looked promising at 12 on the water and was powered up but very "back handy" on the boom which was a puzzle since there was no changes from PB's done last session. Finally traced the problem to a released batten tensioner which I then broke trying to retension the batten . Swapped to the 7m redline but the Drake fin just does not have the low speed loading of the C3 Venom. Swapped to the C3 34 and was feeling good but the wind started to get patchy and 34cm was not enough fin to pump up onto the plane. Martin looked like he was going well as was Mark who I loaned the Foretrex 101 to. Marks data - Peak 30.474, 5x10 sec 28.137, 1 hour 10.373, Alpha 18.45, Mile 21.23, Distance 36.19 (Old school slalom, 29cm fin, 6.6 raf)
MartinJE (4408km): Shoal Bay - Bayswater: SSW<->SW->25+, small to steep windchop on outgoing, HW-0.5 to +1.5; iSonic122, Venom 420, mb 1335 (-2); Redline 7m0. Not too comfortable on the set-up 'til the wind back off some - smaller fin may have given some more speed ... lots of people bunking off work for the long weekend - great session in the end, with the sun shining!!!
craiggoo (2352km): This wasn't a speed session... I made the treck up to Mahia to catch some waves. Had a great time with heaps of jumps and wave rides. |
