PB max speed for this sail and board combo but otherwise frustrating.

Wind wasn't as strong as it looked and so I was lulled into getting out the slalom kit.  Would have been better on the Freestyle kit tho as it would have meant more time on the plane instead of slogging/submerging but at least I got out.  Perhaps a 105litre slalom board is needed....

5 PB's for GPSTC so not all that bad!!!

Pleased to see the back of warm but poor wind April and welcome May with rain and 8 degree temperature but at least the wind was blowing :) I was just getting ready to go to The Dip - Felixstowe even though there was abit too much north in it to make it ideal but there were some kiters out going okay (some had been out since 6 in the morning !!! ) when fellow Team East sailer Peter Cutts phoned and said he was Billy no mates and was going to Bradfield on the River Stour near Manningtree so decided to join him.I arrived at 11 in rain and being in no hurry, read the paper and waited for Pete. When he arrived at 11.30 we decided to brave the poor weather and with winds gusting to 25 mph I went for the 6.4 and big slalom to gauge the conditions.I had a bumpy hour on the big board in the up and down wind and made 27.95 kts but not much fun in the chop.I hummed and harred about rigging the 7m but stuck with the 6.4 and then tried the 90 which was much better suited to the condtions even if it meant abit of floundering.Still it was as good as this direction offered locally and we got the month off to an okay start :) Pete did even better being just shy of 30 kts !!!!

Sunrise to Sunset - http://www.justgiving.com/k888

Started at 05:37 and finished at around 19:45 - almost 9 hours of sailing in 4 evenly spaced blocks (each one slightly over two hours). It was cold to begin with (7 degrees) but the temperature increased to about 9 degrees during the middle of the day. Towards the end of the day it was back to 7 degrees and I was starting to feel pretty cold as the wind had dropped and I wasn't using a lot of energy. I was very pleased to complete my 8 hours, 8 minutes, 8 seconds challenge and also managed to do 100 miles at the same time.

Spot / Conditions: Brogborough Lake (England), 12 knots but gusting about 20 knots
Kit: JP Slalom V 76, 8.4m NP RS:Slalom MK II, Tectonics Talon 46
Tech Details: Navi GT-31 V1.3 (B1123t), GpsarPro v4.20, Doppler, Cubic Spline.

Well done everyone.

Mike great distance effort. when it is cold is a lot harder than when it is > 20 degrees all day, and when it is gusty I find it saps your energy a lot more than when you are comfortably cruising.

Good to see the video Mike, I learnt on a similar lake in Kent (Snodland.... on a Racy Cat in 1984) I remember the cold and the gusty windsFrown.

I measured Brogborough at a max of 800metres for the runs you were doing, 160kms means a lot of gybesSurprised.

You should try it here one day, in the image below the ruler is 4km long and the water is realatively flat over that area when the wind is in the right direction

Temperatures on this day would have been about 17-25 degrees so no gloves and a shortie wetsuit once it warmed up, that makes it easier too!

We can regularly do runs of over 7kms but I have learned that 2 or 3 ks is enough if I do not want to get leg pain!

Well done Mike...and the rest of the team.  Videos are clever and gybes really dialled....I can see why you done so well at the Weymouth BSA slalom event!
