Adi (15022km): Karin, iSonic 94, NP Slalom 6,2 Wake up at 04:00, at 05:15 already on the water. Wind was very strong 25-30 kt, with wild gusts up to 45 kt. So, I stayed on safe side and did not even try to go deep downwind over the quite dangerous chop. For a moment I consider to go out and take even smaller sail and board, but I didn't. I wonder if I would be faster... :-) Quite happy with todays session. Finaly enough wind and - what a miracle - lasted longer than half hour! But, unfortunately, due to lack of wind almoset whole year I noticed that I need some time to ajust to smaler equipment and more speed. And, boy, I needed to rest couple of times! Around 08:00 I changed to 7,0 and iSonic 111, but than it was already over - make couple of runs and that's it. | ||||||||||||||||||
Jan (2971km): Well... Decided to try the Kosljun bay again but "bura" was not as strong as I thought it would be....wishful thinking... Didn't get much sleep as I drove last night from Zagreb, arrived on spot at 3 AM and slept in the car till 5:00. Acctualy managed to fall asleep around 4 AM as I was much excited because of the forecast and the fact that "bura" blew during the night quite strong, shaking my car... But I guess that was the most of it because in the morning it got very very quiet...it died... Brane, Peka and Peka junior arrived on spot around 6AM and we waited for "bura" to pick up till 7 and then started our sessions.
It acctualy begun to fill in but the gusts were not as strong and there were a lot of holes.
Didn't have much luck though. After half an hour I got a nice spin out with more then 29kts so I crashed violently. I had luck not to break anything important as the harness line broke so I flew over the sail instead of breaking everything. So I sailed back on shore, replaced the harness lines and sailed out again but after few runs my harness hook broke in two. I guess it got cracked in my previous fall but didn't notice. So I sailed back ashore bear hands (harness hanging and dangling down my legs). Nice practice though....last time I sailed without harness was some 20 years ago....
Once ashore Peka junior borrowed me his harness so I sailed for another half an hour but wind already started to die....
So not much of a result for me Today but again learned a lot: 1) Have to check equipment adn replace it periodicaly 2) Have to bring spare parts (everything should be doubled up) 3) Have to take onboard a piece of spare rope (maybe tie it around a boom), so it can be used in case of similar accidents...
Anyway it was nice shiny and warm day at Kosljun bay with Brane and Peka and hopefully we will come back with real "bura"...like to one Adi had Today in Karin!.

Marko CRO-133 (9022km): Barcole/Trieste... I wanted to test how much speed difference is between small is94 and big is111... The wind was not so strong as I expected, I was mostly underpowered with Vapor 6.0 :( Smaller isonic proved to be faster even in slightly underpowered conditions, about 2-3knots faster :) My display showed a lot more than 34.22 but who knows...Maybe I am doing something wrong :) I am new to this stuff. This is really tricky spot. Usually it is extremely gusty. If you go near the shore, the water is flat but it is gusty as hell and the wind blows from the steep hills and hit your rig at very strange angle :) Like it is blowing from the sky :) If you go further out to the sea, the wind is nicer but the chop is extreme!!! I found this better than the first solution. Isonic 94 is very nice in chop! Like it!
