Melville Beach, WA, AU

Good day out. Thought I might try for an hour ...............was going well till I found a huge hole and fell in at 38minute mark. Bummer but got some gybe practice in !

Then I went for some nice down winders . Tide was great.

I was going to get rid of the 6.5 overdrive but loved it today.....just needed some wind in it so she stays in the shed.

Was good allround

F2 SX 85litre   6.5 overdrive  and meanline 28incher

Think i need a slmaller fin. Any recomendations boys??

A 28 inch fin (70cm) I am not surprised you need a smaller fin!Wink

Why do you think you need smaller, Slappa? To get over the sand bar? Got a 36.6 yesterday at Wallyworld on a 32 goldwing.

Lao Shi.........I meant 28cm.

I was still getting some moments of lift every so often with the meanlines. I have liked them up till now but just think there is better out there.

Just joshing ya slappa. However going smaller is not necessarily the answer. I have been very pleased with the goldwing.

When you say lift. What was happening to the board? Could be sail / board trim rather than fin. Try and bear away slightly before you the gust if you can see it ahead of you.

It seems to happen when I am bearing right off the wind and the tail sort of gives a little wiggle.

Then it seems to pull into line but it feels like 99% of the board is off the water. I do try to get all my weight going through my back leg for control but only happens at top speeds. Can be a bit concerning!

Slappa,

I would have thought you would need at least a 32cm fin, I was using a 34cm last night & thought I could have used a 36.

I used to run a 28 - 30cm fin with a 96L & 6.5M but have since started using bigger fins, seems to go over chop better, more lift maybe.

Have a talk to Steve Strat, Danny or Jesper about fins & fin sizes, Steve & Danny are the F2 experts.
