The wind finally seemed to show up in Poole but very gusty making it hard to choose the right sail. Nice to get out.

4th day of wind in a row and with only an small window of opportunity to go out I was the guinea pig and bullied into going on the 7.8.  Wind had veered more easterly compared to the previous couple of days so was packing more of a punch than it looked.

Stacked at times it was really good fun and with the speed strip working I had a few attempts at breaking 32kts with this set-up.  First time must have been a 'Right place, right gust' time as I managed to sling-shot over the rutland rollers and onto a relatively flat speed strip and new I had gone fast.  Looked at the dial and I had smashed my Rutland PB with a 34.81kt max!!!  If only I had been on a smaller sail/fin.

PB for 2sec and 10s run!!

Mainly sailed my larger kit today - the new Slalom VII 65 is an amazing piece of work with the excellent control from the VI version but with better acceleration, top speed and pointing ability.  Combining that with the new 7m MKIV, it was an assembly I was 'happily' able to deal with in conditions where I was also planing perfectly fine on a 4.2m that Rebecca had been running!

I did take my 5.5m on the Slalom VII 56 later on when I was getting tired but to be honest I never got anywhere close to the speeds that I achieved with the larger kit...maybe tomorrow will prove better for the smaller kit if it really kicks-in again late on!?!

Happy though even if just missing out on my GPS 30kts average record.
