obi one tobi (4353km): Melville Beach, WA, AU iso 86, Koncept 6.6 then Gaastra 5.5 (1996 old school), Darke/Deb 32 man the extra love handle tickles a bit now Im home. it was the best 10sec at 27.15, and the last speed was 23.69 the next 1 sec later was 7.2, then a 2min 9 sec wait till the next 0.25 speed. Follow that? ok so I crashed at speed and landed on the boom with my right hand love handle, now its supersized! Great day thanks wingman Raygun, Sorry Laoshi- who lead the way as my cahones shrunk on the hell run to the kiter buoy. F yeah it was windy !! and still is! Top 3 2 sec pb-eeeeehaaaahhhhh!!
ray gun (14091km): Melville Beach, WA, AU Jp sl84, lightning 5.4 GW33,jpsl30. Good start with coffee and muffins with Obi. Rigged two sails(that was a waste of time). Some nice runs before wind really kicked in. Fin change and coffee before another go. Choppy as hell out there hard to find any flat water. Second half of sail was survival mode with sore arms and cramping calfs. one nice crash on downwinder with frontfoot bounced free of strap. karate kick style. managed to somehow put some sail into water to wash of some speed before inevitable catapult. Words of advice and encouragement from Lao were greatfully received but when he said follow me....the chop gods took revengance on me and that was the end of my day. As Obi said quickest we moved was trying to beat the rain while packing up
Slappa (3385km): Melville Beach, WA, AU After being away for I while i went to bed last nite hoping for some extreme conditions today. I figured there would not be too many more real strong fronts before the patterns change and I had not had enough of the cold gusty stuff just yet!
Well.......be careful what you wish for kids!!!!!!!!!
I got down for a check at melville around 12.30 to see it was looking the goods. Spoke to Lao shi to hear that he was not overdone on a 5.7. So finished the chores, that await a man who has been on the east cost for most of the past 5 weeks, then i loaded up the wagon with all the high wind speed gear I could carry
Got down to melville to find that the wind was even stronger and I noticed the highly experienced guns Mark and Claude coming in. I sat in the car and watched for the next half an hour as 3 hardy men tried to get going on wave gear and tiny sails. They spent most of the time trying to water start or getting their rigs wrenched from their cold wet hands. Thought I better go and get the bump and jump gear, it was no time for the speed gear today.
Waitied as long as I could for it to drop a bit but it didnt so rigged the smallest wave sail and took it on on my waveboard. Shit........I reckon there should be a new class of wind known as atomic, because it was freakin windy. Managed to get it under control and even landed a few of the biggest jumps I have ever done in the river. Highlights included a 10 minute squall with rain and wind that would rip your eyes straight out of your sockets and crashing at high speed to get driven at least 4 foot under water upside down still hooked it. Freaky
No injury , no broken gear and considering I was trying to slow down as much as possible I am stoked with the speed on waveboard
