Seahorse (2398km): Inverloch Area 45. Thought there would be others here but they were off at Gidget's. CA SL58, Venom 32 and Koncept '11 6.6. Setup working well - Venom a touch small when not lit up. Went for a one hour - last 10 minutes very sketchy otherwise reckon it would have been close to PB with no majorly messed up gybes. Planned to go for speed and alpha after that but wind didn't cooperate. Hopefully this plus spotty gives us a half ok score for the month. Was pretty good not having to look before gybing - no other traffic the whole time. Feels good to finally blast around after a very lean winter. | ||||||||||||||||||
Spotty (8858km): At the Pit with only 16-18 from the east. and a fresh 2012 pre-production 6.6 Koncept set a accordingly, 120L/38fin. Would normaly run a 7.5/8.5 to be powered up, so thought it would be a bit touch n go for us. I was very impressed in the end with the sails efficiency delivering some good numbers considering the light conditions for us. Obviously was unable to really bear off due to the size of the sail but did manage to get a 30 500m. The slightly lower aspect with shorter luff and longer boom adds a little more back hand pressure, which I like for getting the power on coming out of gybes and also pumping the sail in the harness and bearing off. This coupled with some really smooth rotation, perfect head/leech looseness and stable shape gets a big thumbs up from me. In general has the slippery feel of the '09 and obviously some serious grunt taken from the 2010&11's full shape, can't wait to try it again with some decent wind. Spotty |
