col (16458km): Hardies Run, WA, AU Falcon 111,Blade 7.8,40 sting I,Awsome event great fun, Got off to a bad start caught in dirty wind then a piece of weed, which I thought would clear itself but it did not after 1km and a few botched gybes. Hard work pinching back up wind to make the buoy at the beach.Wondered why so many standing on beach as I gybed and and no one was out there with me, seems by the distance and GPS speed.com I did eight legs. Big thanks to the organisers and helpers
Diablo (1611km):
Better conditions than yesterday (just) meant it was a nice way to end the year. Although I've had enough of these weak seabreezes. The good ones will probably kick in on Tuesday when I head back to work. Happy new year to all Sonic 85, NP Diablo 7.2, JP Speed 28cm Melville Beach, AU

Slappa (3385km): Safety Bay, WA, AU Not my best new years ever Went to SB expecting the stromg winds forecast....................they never came Went out for a blast and on my LAST run for the day (thought it was time to go party!!) I crashed on a gybe in the middle of the bay and my left foot slipped off the tail and went straight down onto the back of the weed fin, which i found out was sharp as a knife. It didnt hurt at first so I water started and got on the plane then looked down to see a shit load of blood running down my board. Oh No. Luckily I made it back to the beach quickly and fuck me the cut was deep and right under my toes from my second toe to edge of my foot . Not feeling real good now as blood was pouring out. Wow and didnt I feel the love from fellow windsurfers. Massive thanks to Scott from secret harbour who stopped the blood did first aid and got me to hospital and to Chris Lockwood for calming me down and for derigging and packing up my car you guys are absolute champions. Chris I should have got you to take a photo!!! And I hope you made it home in time for the party at your house! So after 3 hours in rockingham hospital I limped out with 10 stiches. The Dr told me the fin had gone in at 45degreess and really deep. Thank god as if it went straight down it would have severed all the tendons to my toes. So the moral to the story speedsters is- 1) Sand down the extreme sharpness on the back of all your weedfins and probably pointers as well 2) Have a good first aid kit on hand in your car 3) Dont spend the majority of NYE in a hospital |
