LOCATION:  ANGLING CLUB- GIDGET'S

WIND- E <10kts, turning SE- 15-18KT

TIDE:  LOW TO INCOMING

GEAR:  (lightwinds)- Super12'6, KA KONCEPT 7.3 (more breeze)  Carbon Art CA 77, 40 cm C3 venom

DETAILS:  Great day sailing and my first time exploring the west bank or "gidget's" asMoondo named it.

Wow! what a run.  Got out there on the Sup initially and the high wind point allowed me to hug the bank on the way out.  Theres some really nice shape all the way along and it runs over a NM from the boat ramp to the entrance.  Got a couple of sweet runs up and down (and clocked the Sup @ 23.86 kts!), then came in and changed down to the CA.  Nice runs out but the tide had turned, making the end of the run choppy.  Holes started to appear in the wind and I slogged back.

The Koncept felt beautifully balanced and never felt overpowered- even in the bigger bursts.

Great day again at Invy!

Get spinning out with the MFC 36 untill I borrowed a Mick's C3 Venom 36. Wow what a difference. Rock solid with full back foot pressure. Need to save up for one now. Ian and Richie well done on the pb's.   Richie great that Area 45 worked for you as well.  I saw some sails down that way and wondered who it was!  You did extremely well today Ian but you have to remember not to pass me too many times!!

Sorry Richie, was it something we said?...Smile Does Dougie's wetsuit really smell that bad that you have to sail at the other end of the Inlet?

Surely it couldn't be the way we picked on you and losing your rig that now forces you to become a "lone wolf" and sail by yourself?

Personally, I think the cracks are beginning to show, and Richie is secretly lining up for a leadership challenge...

Hey Mick, good stuff on the nautical mile. Keep them coming. Wish I had of picked Sunday to make the trip down rather than Saturday. Oh well, win some.....

Hi EJ,

yeah Sunday was pretty good, although it did come up a bit after you left on Saturday.

The NM is from near the boat ramp around the little "hump" near pensioners then in tight on the spit all the way to the entrance. It bears off to about 110' off the wind towards the end so you are really broad and really moving as you come into the swell.  Going back the other way, theres a bit of messy stuff near the boat ramp but at that stage you have already done a NM so you can back off a bit.

This new run is so sweet, and yesterday at slackwater it was like sailing on marbles!  Next SE, you've gotta come and play!

I love sailing at Invy, it's just the crowd's that put me off. I generally like it from now until December for windsurfing. Hope to make plenty of trips down there this year. Looking forward to trying the new strip. Sounds really good.

No Drift hasn't lost his marbles at Gidgets, although there were plenty lying around near the west bank with the low tide and S-SW Wind. Was one of those magic moments when the rig floats like soap but sounds like a gattling gun. What can I say. A ball was had by all. Cool

Great set of numbers Antonie.  It would be interesting to see the difference before and after changing to the C3.  Loved those long runs at Gidgets(great name Moondo)  Interesting all the numbers are very close to each other
