With mega wind forecast from the south and a midday high my only local option was Levington as I'm not sailing the bumpy open sea at The Dip in 30 mph winds in Dec !!! I got to Levington at 10 ish and it didn't seem that windy so rigged 8.5 and took out the longboard to makae the most of the tide, to start with I was having trouble hitting 20 kts in the gusty wind :( I then beat a little way toward Felixstowe dock , tacked and sailed broad back toward the bay and got 29 kts first run as the wind increased ! I had 1/2 a doz. runs like this by which time I was joined on the water by Roger and Paul Vickers out on 133 lt board and overpowered with 6.5 !!! Time to try and get back !!! I headed up river but now the tide was high and just turned really chopping up the river badly and the wind gusting 30 mph !!! I wipped out in the middle of the river and hurt my neck a little but did manage to get back !!! Roger was aslready packed up having hurt his knee :( and Paul had a interesting time getting his gear home - he did consider rigging 5m but the chop was bad so decided against it !!! Roger made us a great cup of coffee in his campervan and then I braved packing up !!! and we have two more days of this with nowhere good to sail :(
