Billy (10673km): Holloways Beach, QLD, AU Now that was as good a sail as Ive had for a long while. Nothing flash mind you, just a very enjoyable sail. Shared the water with not a soul...except for the odd shag hitting the water with gusto presumably after bait fish. Wind was cranking when I got there at midday and decided to brave the water hoping that the nasties had been washed to the sea floor with all the SE chop. Finally got a chance to use my new Pro Limits Rambler Seat Harness for the first time and from the very beginning "Loved It" What a difference it makes compared to the old waist harness. It just made the whole rig just feel easier to handle, especially in some of the larger bullets that came through. Very impressed. Wasnt interested in any speed records today, just wanted a good clean sail. Very happy with the results. Ened up with of a walk when the wind died out for about 1/2 hr and just couldnt get upwind enough. Other than that, a great little teaser hopefully for 2013. 104 Screamer, 6.2 Revolution

Herby (14385km): Lake Tinaroo, QLD, AU....Launched at mid day in gusty S/E.....boats and jetskis everywhere....sometimes overpowered with 7.5m Zephyr and then standing up and teetering. (still thats Tinaroo). came in about 1pm for lunch and decided that was enough. last thing I seen before leaving for home was Freddie going pretty fast.
Trojan (8376km): Lake Cootharaba, QLD, AU Big day on the lake, gusty 20-30kNts. 5.7 Loft lip wave, caspar 300 fin, Naish 100 litre Koncept. Got best ever speed on the Naishg of 31.5Knts. Changed down to old Naish 82 litre enduro and was mush safer, but still tailwalking and backwinding in the big gusts. A race sail would have been a big help but very happy with those speeds.
Kel (36803km): Burrum Heads!! Great sail at the heads with Southern Queensland Mobs after a last minute desision to head down for the good forecast. Had a ripper stack at the end and now can't remember getting out of the water or the last few runs, Very Happy with the Alpha and the Nm! Used Overdrive 6.0 2012 Isonic 90 C3 Sting11 34, and CA 50 and C3 Venom 26
Eddy (24292km): Port Douglas, QLD, AU' Port gossip'Went to beach for a sail with my good friend Simmie, tried to round up a few more locals but they all had 'hangovers' rigged big gear but was hoping to sail small board. Was just about to hit the water when Curl and Kay rocked up Curl was keen for a sail and rigged 7m .Kay stayed on the beach and became a bay watch chick for a few hrs.. Wind was a bit softer than i would of liked but managed to stay cranking most of the time on the 'big kahuna' 125lt AHD. Curl and simmie struggled for a while, but the wind eventually came in and we all had a good blast..had quiet a few good runs with curl when the wind came in there wasn't much in it but he did kick my ass on one run..so i flattened sail a bit and it was on again..Over all an OK session...Cheers Ed..
Freddy Burke (12114km): Lake Tinaroo, QLD, AU Hoppy Bob and I decided to go to Tinaroo again if not for a sail then maybe a new year drink..... Herby and Hans were both on the water when we got there but come in not long after ...as the wind was so flukey. Anyway rigged up and got a few runs in. dr cam (41674km): Double IS off Clifton Beach ,FNQ Wind 14-20 SSE Seas Rough Gear RRD 105 Loft blade 7m2 Sting 2 40 ... Kel called me from Burrum late morning looking for back up so I thought I'd give it my best shot . Wind was a solid 18-20 initially but tide was high so no flat water -even over the Reef Flats ... As the tide retreated I sailed in & retrieved the ISO 80 with the 32 venom but the wind dropped 2-3 knots so was underpowered . The Flats were covered in weed so I kept having Lake George Flashbacks ...!!! Last Run of the day was travelling at ~ 30knots when a live torpedo charged out of the shallows into my R calf at speed.Felt like someone had thrown a cricket ball full pelt at short distance .Calf felt like it was going to explode then I noticed the blood-AHHRRR. Managed to sail the 4-5klms home & promptly throw up /faint .I was wearing a pair of cream colored trousers to keep the stingers away-ominously they were blood red by this time ... Catherine called the Ambos who were great & later that evening I was wheeled into theatre at CBH where the surgeon explored a track as wide as his index finger from one side of my leg to the other ,tied off some arterial & venous bleeders, washed the wound out & then left a drain in situ ... Very lucky no major damage . Blood count had fallen from 15 down to 10 ... I was on 1/2 hrly obs overnight so am feeling knackered now but good to be home. Great Numbers & big thanks KEL !! To Vando / B Rad/Andrew Daff/Kato & Teaks -great numbers guys & huge effort . What a year !!! |
