Sailing Club, Wallis Lake, NSW, AU.

Got there and out by 10.30.Didn't look too flash from shore, but rigged up anyway.SL104 BP34weeedy GTX 6.5. Pleasantly surprised that the wind was better than expected, and stronger further out. Straight south with a bit of SSW at about 15-20 with some beaut 22k gusts.Sailed with Geoff, Robert, Matt and Bill, with a few blow-ins out.

No Pete, Aaron or Chris today. Shame, as it was one of the nicest flat conditions at the Sailing Club for a while.Unfortunately, there was a fair bit of thin strap weed about in drifts, which tended to catch during the not so powered up moments. It was difficult to stay upwind today, so couldn't really bear-off too deep, or suffer a long time getting back upwind. Very nice armchair sailing at times, but the wind started to go round to the SSE then SE and gustier. The better moments were earlier on I thought.Time to head in.Can't complain too much!Cool

Queens Lake, NSW, AU

Sailed with Adam, Adam NZ , Phil & Dave.

Wind very up and down . Swinging directions alot. Was underpowered most of the time. Rigged up to small. Was only good in the gust.

Was a fun day.

Queens Lake, NSW, AU - combined file.

8m GPS (2hrs) + 7.3 GPS (1hr)+ Falcon 99 and MUF delta 23cm

Wanted to give the Delta another run. Rigged big, very overpowered in the gusts, should have had the 7.3 or 6.6 for the first 2hrs. Wanted to sail overpowered as i thought the mudbank would be super flat at this mid tide and the delta would allow me to access the shallow flat water. In fact it was choppy, not as choppy as the main bit of the lake, but much rougher than usual, so it was quite hairy at times running downwind with the 8m completely overpowered as I couldnt even sheet in properly.

Delta thoughts: Goes upwind very well, across wind well, downwind is comfy, handles chopvery well. Weakness is gybing as they are so slow/funky in the gybe which makes turning these nasty slalom boards even harder. It was great sailing over the mudbank at full power when it was shin to knee deep - full confidence which makes up for any loss at the top end as I wouldnt have been able to sail at the bank with a conventional weed fin. Top speed was with the 8m, as when I gpt to the bank with the 7.3 the wind had dropped considerably.

Fun arvo- went out with the 8m for a couple of hariry hours, came in, phil rocked up, so decided to change down sail and go out again - mistake, wind dropped

Met David, Adam (NZ), Adam's wife Trudy and Daughter Sienna. Good to see new faces coming to the lake.

Kingfisher Shores, NSW, AU Real quick cruisy solo sail at home, unreal! 12/ 15 sse, 8.3 Koncept 47 weedy 83 wide fat ass Fanatic. First sail for the year and Happy new year crew. Took my 9yo son Oscar out again this morning on his 3.3 retro and Petes 76 wide hypersonic and he was going real well, improving every time which is good to see. Maybe another Marauder!

Sailing Club, Wallis Lake, NSW, AU.  Great day, really flat water on the weed bank just the wind wasn't as strong as closer to shore.  The thin floating strap weed was hard to slide off the fin when not powered up.

Falcon 101, 6.5 GTX, 35cm BP weedspeed

No tide effect on the run out , only problem had to come home by boat , but potentially very fast spot

Waited till the tide started running out , found a nice spot near limeburners creek , got some nice smooth runs , just need the wind to stay , it dropped out quickly , greg got all the big gusts

Looks like an interesting spot Mark.Gets very shallow in there from the look. Normal pointer fin fine or were you using a delta fin?

Would love to have a good Southerly spot in town - gets very gusty at queens with that big bloody mountain in the way

Hey Phil.........I use the rear strap only 50% of the time, and usually only when really fully powered up, otherwise I leave it just in front of the rear strap on the rail, especially when on a beam reach (perpendicular to the wind) or going upwind............. but I am one of the less experiences slalom sailors here, so take that with a grain of salt. When fully powered up on a downwind run I use it 100% of the time

adam used the 32 pointer fin , no problems , i hour after high tide i was actually hoping for the wind to stay but it died off quickly another hour and the water would have been awesome and some nice runs

Adam that means you are posting using trackpoint data instead of what should be doppler data. How are you uploading your files? KA72 ? Realspeed?

AJEaster

Hi Andrew. I use a GT31 and post via KA72. Mark and Greg I think use Garmin gps and I know Mark has Realspeed so I am also guessing he uploads his data and Greg's data by Realspeed too. This could be the reason for the Ds and Ts?

What is more accurate, KA72 or Realspeed.....or it doesnt matter? If realspeed is more accurate I will subscribe to it

trainspotters will say Realspeed is the more accurate (and it will give you more complex analysis of your tracks) but with no sheep stations up for grabs KA72 is brilliant for what it does and of course, FREE, thanks Dylan.

As long as you remain consistent with how you crunch your data that's the main thing. Realspeed and GPSAR are great if you want to analyse individual runs.
