bushfire (26346km):
4237 days ago Primbee, NSW, AU, Generally westerly, up to 33 knots or there abouts. Not much weed, plenty of water, but hard to find any flat water.
A big turnout of speed freaks at the first winter westerly for the season - must have had 20 sailor or more! Great to catch up with people. We had plenty of chin wag time as the wind didn't kick in until about 11am and slowly built during the day.
Started off on the JP SS with the 7m R3 but couldn't get real comfortable on this combo. Switched over to the W49 with the 5.6m R4 when the wind picked up and was immediately comfortable - what a nice combo. Set my best speed on this. Searched all over the Primbee flats for some calm water but with no weed the chop was a bit bigger than normal - probably the best stretch was down near the entrance.
The wind picked up a bit more so decided to try out some brand new kit - W44 + 5.1m R4 + MXR UFO weedy. Bit of a handful for a start - mast track position was all wrong. After some adjustment things were starting to feel good. Wow - accelerates like mad!
Pretty stuffed so couldn't get the best out of the W44 - this combo has great potential - more tuning required. Love the MXR.
