Gusty but slightly better than expected as I thought it would be 7.8m weather.

I should probably have rigged the 7.0m and 105L but the 6.4m + 90L were nice in the gusts.

A windy night in the van in our friends garden in thier cottage right on Balephetrish Bay and with the wind just west of north this was the best beach on Tiree today for wave sailing but with the wind gusting to 40 kts and my smallest kit a 100lt. and 5.6 this wasn't an option for me so we headed over to Gott Bay at low water where the wind was dead offshore. So after lunch I rigged the 5.8 x-15 and headed out in the middle of the bay and beat the short way to the exposed rocks and headed back toward the beach and along toward the harbour getting my best run of the day at 34kts + :) It was difficult ti judge just how close you could go the the beach and many times I was sailing in rolling surf making an interesting experience !!! I tried both sides of the bay having to swim the board through some kelp !!! With my times stuck at 32 kts and with a couple more sailors out from the other end of the way I had lots of great runs flat out across the full width of the bay !!! Going for a gybe flat out I crashed out and my uj snapped, lucky for me I was just in my depth but had a long walk back to the van for a replacement. Once fixed I had another hour of blasting before calling it a day at 5ish :) Graet Great days sailing despite being on the chilly side - a cloudy 12 degrees - one of the other sailors was even wearing a hood !!! Then it was back to Peter and Sally's for a lovely hot shower and another top meal with them :) Peter had sailed in his bay with 3.7 !!! Might see the sun tomorrow !!!
