Mike G (11070km): ![]() Three hours blasting in the sun. I spent the first two hours on the weed fin then the last hour on a normal fin. Weed fins definitely compromise performance but then again the normal fin was pretty annoying due to constant weed. I had a massive crash mid-gybe when the weed fin span out... just as I was laying the sail down, causing the mast to hit the water with the sail fully powered. My leg is still dead after hitting something (board, mast, boom?) as I tumbled across the kit and the water! All in all a good workout for my body and hands. Stephen Squirrell (34966km): Was really looking forward to today with sunshine and a good breeze forecast so got down fairly early at approx. 9:30 to catch the low water. The three members of the Hurrel family were rigged and ready to go with 6 to 6.5 sails as it was a bit windier than forecast, I have no 4.60 mast and my 6.6 rotational needs a repair so was limited to what I could rig so went with the x-15 6.4 which wasn't ideal in the very choppy North Sea :( In the end the sail was fine but it was the worst sea I have ever sailed in here at Felixstowe with chop on chop horrendously bumpy and very hard work :( The best conditions were up by the kite beach but the runs were short, the wind was also very up and down and I had to use my 133 board for awhile. The wind picked up a little so I tried my soft 5.6 but the tide was now high and the sea even worse :( shame really as it was a really lovely sunny hot day and the water warm in a shortie :) North East is now the best direction here at Felixstowe.
Steve Carter (8460km): Quite a few out around 6m so rigged 96l/6m. Wind bit up and down; planed most of time but could have done with bit bigger gear or more wind. Wind picked up so 5.2m/85l for a while. Sea mostly quite a mess though better closer to shore. Occasional big lumps to gybe off. Need a better sea and more consistent, stronger wind for more stars.
Peter Cutts (6766km): ![]() Nice play at Felixtowe not overpowerd none of this silly speedsailing nonsence just enjoyed myself for a change -- GT31 seems to be working again after loseing a session in France |
