Trial Bay, NSW, AU Fun if not mixed up seshion.  Started off 8-12 knots west. Then went nor-west, then finally nor-east where it was building sweetly as I got out. The last 1 hour was great, consistent 12-15 knots. Was perfect for the 7.3 GPS and 111 Futura. Funny, I used the weed fin, and it felt great, never dropped a gybe in 3 hours- which is amazing for me on the ocean. Things are finnnnnnaaaaallllly starting to come together...yipee!  Funny, the overlay looks like two seperate outings.

Nice one guys. You got the Cream Mick. Smashing it with that combo and wind. How do you like the Koncepts? I'm probably going to update my quiver in the bigger sizes next year with KA's. Down to 6.0.What other sizes do you have?

At least you got out Mark. All I could manage was a few nice waves at Boomerang.Smile

Hey Phil, you seemed to be getting quite a few sessions up there too.The time on water is paying off!

Thanks Gabe, she blew pretty good today. Yeh I love the Koncepts. They seem limitles. Victorians are killing it on the smaller sails, 6.6 and down. The last few months my 7.5 has impressed me so much and I think I've got them tuned pretty right. Big thing was out haul. 3/4 cm less than specs on all sails and that still gets me up wind no worries and even less off the breeze (6cm). Very stable in over powered conditions. I have 2010 8.3,5.7,4.9 and 2011 7.5 and 6.6. Very affordable and rig on most masts. I'm sure you won't regret the change Gabe.

yeah, thanks Mick. I do like the look of them and the build is good too.I know Andrew Daff has been using KA for many years and is still on them. Chris and I had the KA's in the GS and GSX series around the late 90's early 2000, and they were good then too.So I'll be back in the fold(at least partly) some time next year.

Looking to get 7.5, 6.6, and 6.2 and masts also.Keeping the 5.5 Vapor and the Naish Stealth 5.0. and maybe upgrade those later. I'd like a 4.6 or a 4.2 at some point. I'm looking forward to trying them out, that's for sure.Geoff Hayward (in the Marauders)has a quiver of them too.I'll bludge a go of one of his soon enough.

Cheers Mick, Gabe and Mark. Didn't realise I'd done just over a 1000 kays- cool. Really, so many short seshions. I'm hoping there will be lots of 50 kay plus day as my skills and fitness progress.

Hey Gabe,

My 2014 KA Race sails (7.9, 7.1, 6.3, 5.5) will be here in the next week. You are welcome to take these for a test drive anytime you want. Spotti is so impressed with the 2014 KA Race that he is using the KA RAce this year in sizes all the way down to the 6.3, and Koncepts for sails under 6.3. I have a loan of some 2012 and 2013 gear off Martin Love until my 2014 stuff arrives. I have used Martin's 7.1 Race twice and am thoroughly impressed - solid as a wing and easy to hold onto.

You are welcome to take a ride on Martin's gear as well before I send it back down or until it is sold. The Sails I have borrowed off Martin are KA Race 7.9, 7.1 and Koncept 6.6.

This offer goes out to everyone else on the team as well.

Cheers, Adam

Hi Gabe,  On the note of sail sizes.  I have been running KA for longer than I care to remember..or can remember.  Presently, I run 8.5, 7.5, 6.6.  (all in Koncept).  I am unsure as to your weight and boards, but I have found the 7.5 and the 6.6 too close for me in size.  Doing it again, I would run 8.5 .7.5, 6.2.  The 7.5 i am totally comfortable up to 20knts plus, thus when i change down again, we are normally talking that winds are over 20 plus hence small boards and fins, 6.2 would be better. I am currently finding i go straight from 8.5 down to 6.6 (same board choice), then change down in board after that.  If i was to go KA Race, being a slightly bigger fish than Adam, i would choose 8.7, 7.1, 6.3.

cheers Graeme

Thanks for your thoughts Eric and Adam. I'm a lightweight at 70kg and use 104l as a big board and a 93 and 79l as smaller boards. I've decided not to go bigger than 7.5 as I'm not really into marginal winds.I can plane on 15knots with a 7.5 .That's enough. I'd picked up a 7.9 Gaastra Vapor last year as a compromise, and I really regret buying it as it is quite heavy when not powered and a real pain to rig , so I'm not really enjoying it much. Also, it's only brought the planning threshold down 2-3knots.

My sizing below that is a little tricky as my go to sail is a 6.5, and the next size down was either a 5.8 or 6.2.The 5.8 is too close to the 5.5 Vapor which I'm keeping(sweet little sail)that leaves me with a 6.2 for in between duty.I'd prefer to concentrate on the smaller sizes for later on, replacing the 5.5 Vapor and Naish stealth 5.0. That's where I find there's better choice in the KA Koncepts for lighter riders and stronger winds.I also have to consider rationalising masts. I prefer to use the correct mast for the sail and I only need two with that quiver. My wife needs three masts and three sails to cover her needs as well.

Adam I'd love to give those sails a go,particularly the 6.6 Koncept and maybe the 6.3 Race, but not sure when I can tee it up and don't wish to put you or Martin out. What I'd be interested in is some comparison between the Koncepts and the Race with respect to the weights( not on the KA website) Appreciate the input guys.Thanks.

Gabe, would give you a go on my Koncepts but for no particular reason than I felt like a change have moved them on and now have some Loft Blades in 7.8, 7.0 and 6.3. Itching to give them a run.

Hey Geoff thanks for the thought. Loft is Monty Spindler isn't it? From the old ART sail loft. I'm sure they'll do nicely. We'll be in Tassie from early Nov. to early Dec. Hope to catch up with you this Summer.

Gabe I have put your weight question to Peter the head of KA and will get back to you as soon as I have an answer. No hassles about borrowing sails, you are welcome to use the gear anytime we catch up for a sail

Hi Gabe..be interested to what Peter from KA comes back with...My 2 cents worth (based on current exchange rates :)   )

My 8.5  - 7.5 combination is great if I had a 6.2, but having a 6.6 for me as I said is to close, hence given your 70kg and Im 90, My thought for you of a 7.5, 6.6 woud be like my 8.5 - 7.5 set up, then you could drop down to a 5.5 or 5.0, as i think you are right 5.8 would be too close.  So 7.5, 6.6, 5.0 or 5.4 would be brilliant...the 6.6 has a BIG wind range.  It should match up to your boards really well too.   As far as weights, the 6.6 is the bomb, super light and stable whilst sailing. Grab the sails of Adam and have a blast....if we ever get some freakin decent wind up this way....ok  rant over re the wind.

Also guys and girls I forgot to mention that Mark Jordan of Jordan's Boating Centre in Port Macquarie is now retailing KA Gear for the East coast of Oz, and he will soon have a bunch of new and secondhand KA sails etc in stock as well as demo sails. Cheers, Adam
