Not the epic day that was promissed, with maybe a few 20knt bursts of Wind, but still lots of fun and all the usual suspects also having fun.

Fun if not a bit frustrating day. Wind was nowhere as strong as forecast and at first Mike, Dave and I were only sailing the wind in front of rain squalls. Then it picked up & got slightly more consistent for some nice runs down the beach. Very weedy and no flat water and truckloads of sailors out and too many kites. Still, best wind we have had for ages and it was great to catch up with everyone and meet a few new ones. Big effort from Matt from DD's, drove up from Albury!!!!
Had a run with Frothie, the big fella is gonna kill it when the new board arrives

The forecast was for damaging winds, so I headed up to Canton to escape the worst of the wind, as Botany would have been hectic. Well, we sure missed out on the big windds - a bit too much. The best winds were in the rain squalls, but the last rain squall was only rain - no wind so I called it a day.

3876 days ago 2 categories Fark... Catapult and broke my mast base... oh bugger.
Patchy gusty winds from 10 to ~25 kts. Hit my top speed, got a wobble on, and snap, I suffered an "Accidental Rapid Deceleration Event" from 36kts to zero! Broke the mast base, slight visible damage 10cm from mast base. Damn.
And no-one came to pick me up... so I body dragged for about half an hour to save myself from a trip to the airport. Then took the ultimate walk of shame.
Good to see Ric, Artur, Ken, Peter (wave gear) and a few other out despite the medicore winds.

Not a bad spot in a southerly at all. Some flat water on the other side of the channel and therefore, some great bare-aways runs to be had if you head up wind a little and get a good go at it. Some potencial this coming winter thats for sure? It also seems to get better/more funnelled wind than round the corner at the 'speed strip'. I was going to launch from there, but it was more constant and a lot stonger in front of the club.(wierd but true)
Sean, Roger, Niall and Dave Howe certainly made the most of it. Brett Morris stayed on formula kit.(as you do) i was stuggeling a tad, trying to get use to a slalom board after a long time not on one. Wasn't too comfortable a lot of the time and kept stepping off the thing whilst gybing! The next few days down the south coast should sort that out
