hoppybogan (25974km): Stansbury, SA, AU Northerly strong to nasty 90 SXs, GPS 5.5, 23.5 BP weedy Got there half an hour before Tricky and headed straight out. Was choppy off the spit. Richard was soon out and we tried to settle in. Couldn't manage a good hour cause fell in a few times on the turn. Was well pleased with the 5.5 though cause some gusts were testing. Tricky had a high speed stack bearing off into the chop but gave the thumbs up. Soon after he did the same thing again, bouncing along the top, before coming to a stop, he gave the thumbs up. He must be sore by now i thought!. Not satisfied with his bruising stacks he did it again! This time however he was hurt, not too badly but blood was streaming from his nose and there was a gash as well. His beautiful HSM GPS 5.2 was badly damaged, a whole panel above the boom was gone and the graze on his nose was from his head going through the sail and sliding down the batten pocket. Happened right at the end of the session just as we were coming in. A bandade was applied and photos were taken.I don't know if he will post the photos though. We had a beer and packed up in good spirits after an enjoyable but testing outing. Cheers
Tricky Bogan (21799km): Off shore Northerly strong to nasty (dealt me a lesson) Had not sailed for nearly a month, was I rusty! Pushed it a bit hard out in the chop & had a big off, Then hit the bottom twice, Jeff was scoring my offs in the 8-9 range (I think) Jeffs smaller fined paid off getting on the flatter water. At the end I was over finned & was struggling to keep the board on the water. Jeff called it quits as he had a handfull to deal with. SILLY ME I went for 1 more run 300m from shore................ Isonic 87 - OK 28, Lessacher Duo Weed - OK, HSM 5.5 - 1 paneld down, Tricky Blood nose, Missing bark off the snouser, sore neck & shoulders, ego dented , All in all I hope we earnt a easter egg Still better that rendering pillars
Sammy (43182km): Boggy 10 - 25 gusty but fun on 7m and fanatic 95 with 35 fin. Was a bit much in the strongest gusts for.the day but good overall.
Captain bogan (50569km): Good arvo at Boggy lake. Morning northerly didn't happen but the nw kicked after lunch. Very gusty and fully lit up at times on the 6.6m. Great to get some more time on the Fanatic falcon 89. It is a beast but am learning to tame it in the rough stuff - it just wants to fly. Great day and good to see a huge crew including some new faces. Boggy lake - 10 - 25 knots. '12 Fanatic falcon 89 / '13 Hot sails 6.6 GPS and R325 Black Project fin.
Kimba (8089km): First sail in over a month and there were a good number of sailors on the water. I was looking forward to some long runs up to the radio tower but when the wind came in it went NW. Headed out on the 10 early but was way underfinned with a 46 - my light wind fin is out of action. I was sad to hear about PJ's phantom going AWOL while he was filming me. If I had known he was shooting at the time I may have been able to see where it touched down. Perfect excuse for that upgrade to the 3 x gimble PJ! So when the wind arrived I headed upwind to have a sticky beak and found some nice weed growing, it wasn't very fast(behind the wind line) but if it spreads we might have a good option from SW to NW. I persisted up the top but the gusts were vicious and the direction changing so never managed to get settled. I also sold my go-to UFO38 which would have been nicer in the confused chop. The carbon rockit has a lot of lift for its size and was too powerful to hold off the wind - perfect for slalom though. I just left enough in the tank to get back downwind and found the water was less confused near the launch but the wind was not as strong. I might have gone faster chasing the troughs but it was time to call it a day after pumping away on the 10 in the morning. Great to see some new faces, some returning after a 20 yr break. Boggy Lake - 10-25 M112 - M1 7.7 - Rockit Carbon 38
PJ (24612km): Boggy Lake-NNW 16-26 knots-Mistral SL112-Loft Blade 7m-C3Sting2 38cm Been a while since last session. Knarly gusty and trying at times. No stacks but close!!! Was showing off my DJI Phantom Vision and trying to get a shot of Tim out before wind kicked in on his 10m Avanti..... Alas lost orientation of my drone and last I saw was it disappearing off downwind somewhere into a watery grave maybe??? lol shit happens. Hey Richard that it some honking efforts but x3 wipeouts, ouch:-( Good effort, hat off to both you and Hoppy:-)
