3720 days ago Unfit for speed sailing was the call from all who sailed today. Its been a very long year with no great speedsailing conditions but I've finely cracked a 40 ave for the year. A very gusty w to WSW with some great squalls and if you were at the right end it was perfect. Get it wrong and you went swimming with gear for 500m (Jaques ) Nearly got run of the day with Ado BUT we chickened out when the water disapeared under a sand storm. Local guage recorded a spike of 43kts, a bit much for me on a 5.8. More wind tomorrow, just a bit less so a sail after work might be the go.
Great to see Shelby on the water too and not lost any of his speed either A good RDO for all

3719 days ago 2 categories Great to blow the cobwebs off and a terrific social day for the Pit Crew and one ring in from the Wild West who seemed to forget how to windsurf. (we love youse Jacques).
I went for a KA Race 5.5 and large symmetrical fin because it was very iffy. Turned out that the squalls were huge and I should have rigged a 5.0 or even 4.4 with small assy and gone for speed.
By the time the wind filled in steady at around 25-30 knots we were all pooped and the tide was running in. Some very smooth sections in the middle of the run at the end made for great final runs.

3719 days ago 1 categories A fairly inclement day at the Pit - icy cold wind and water, near constant rain and hail, blasting sand, fierce squally wind, long walks back up the run getting sand blasted and with the wind trying to rip the rig out of your hands - and so glad I didn't miss it! I just needed a bit more courage to hang on longer down the runs. Most were pretty wild and I pulled up a bit early. Bummed to be off the pace again but otherwise a terrific day. Great to catch up with the team after not speed sailing since April!! Some curious chap turned up from Geelong who seemed very keen on practicing water starts for most of the day so I didn't see much of him... (great to see you again Jacques!)
CA SL53 with C3 Viper 28cm and KA 5.8m Koncept for a couple of runs, then F2 Missile XS 53L with 20cm KA assy and 4.4m KA Koncept. I was plenty powered up in the gusts hanging onto 4.4m!
