Damn that was hard work today. The sail felt shit all day, it had me baffled as I used exactly the same measurements as last session, but I worked out towards the end of the session exactly what the cause was..........the fixed rope fitting attached to the boom for the adjustable outhaul was slowly sliding backwards each run, and also the cleat is very worn so the rope was slowly sliding back through as well. On my last three deep downwind runs the adjustable outhaul just completely let go.....a loud BANG!!!!! so the cleat is obviously super stuffed, just like me now. Have to add a new set of cleats and ropes over the next couple of days when no wind.
Went up to 5Mile for a look, moreso to get enough distance to start a NM to Cockies, but whilst there I did a few runs, but it was very flukey to get the gust on the flat water so I headed back to see if I could get a good NM through the nasty chop in the Lake. A really challenging day. My calouses are ali torn off again just when I thought they were healing up, leaving deep holes on my fingers.......the sign of a great sailing trip! Paid rent on the cabin until Monday, so may just call it quits and go home, as I have had a heap of fun over the last 2 weeks.

3569 days ago Lake George, SA, AU. A very gusty wind with not as much guts as last week. Very busy in the rigging area and water as more and more people arrive. 5.5 GTX worked better with less downhaul and I was very happy with my gybes after the speed run bear away - fully planing (for a change). Just need to apply that in alpha situations. Congrats to all the PB's for Rob, Mark, Maree, Adam, Andy and all the others. PB heaven!!!! really happy with my speed -GPS read 33.99. So close!

Lots of people out early at "Cockies' 8 sails by 10.00 am.Looked nice and flat at 15-18k at 5 mile, and from the SE. Probably should have hit it early with a 6 for the nice conditions. We waited 'til the afternoon wind to ramp up, which it did to about 20 -25, but turned more southerly. Nearly everyone was complaining about the lack of push in the short gusts. We've had similar days where good speeds were harder to get.
Discovered 'Rod's rock garden' with my 27 vector which is now a 24. Should have known better. Bit crowded at 5 mile with plenty of guys launching. Saw a good 15 sails on the speed run in the afternoon. Had two sessions, of which the second delivered better speeds with the slightly stronger gusts.
Big congrats to the lady sailors on water today with their PB efforts. Also, well done to Mark, AJ and Rob on their respective PB's. a few days off again before the next few windy days. 79,27,then 23, 5.5.
