Sammy (43182km): What an awesome day. I woke this morning thinking no sailing and ill spend the day at home. I then realized that next weekend im busy so thought fuck it ill go for a fish at boggy lake. Though well the forecast is light so put big gear in expecting to just fish. Got there at 11 and the fish were on the chew. Caught 22 carp all up with the biggest around 6kg. I sent carl a pic of the big carp and that was enough for him to say I'm on my way. :-). Jacko turned up and watched me reel in the stinkers while the wind did fuck all. Then i rang carl who i though had cancelled for sure. He said there in ten and the wind which was SE came in just then. I was amazed to see the wind come in a line like a seabreeze. It went fron 5-10 straight to 15-20 it was a massive suprise. Then carl turned up. We rigged and headed out. It was solid as and i was wondering if i had just got soft over winter or i was in fact overpowered. I felt like i was on the limit most of the session. Think i was being a pussy and it sure was good to have some power in the sail. I rigged a 7.8 with a 113 litre board which is awesome (carls old board) and a 42.5 cm fin. Had such a ball and the wind was better and more consistent than all of winter. Seriously was like a summer seabreeze. Same direction also. Loved today and my mojo has picked up because of it. Thanks for coming down carl. Was the best sail since summer.
Captain bogan (50569km): Great unexpected arvo with Sam. The last couple of weekends i have been painting and yesterday painting and fitting curtains and finished the last one this morning and Sam messaged me a pic of rods at the lake. The forecast had improved and i deserved a stress relief so headed down. Got a phone call from Sam 5 minutes before i arrived saying "it's 15 knots just picked up". After rigging and a quick port we headed out. Plan was for a one hour and cruise and the wind was blowing about 12 knots. Sam was planing well on the 7.8 but it i was a little marginal for a one hour. Great direction and 3 km legs and about 3 legs in it picked up. I was nicely powered now but the chop increased and made for a fun one hour. The Patrik 115 and 7.1m Gun sail are a great combo. Best sail for a while... Boggy lake - 15 - 20 knots. Patrik 115 / 7.1m Gun sail GSR / 40cm RS black project.
Jack Bogan (3705km): Boggy Lake, SA, AU First go on the recently purchased used 7.3 HSM GPS. By the time I had figured the correct set up, I had ran out of energy as the wind kept on buiding until I could'nt hang on anymore. Had to put the harnes lines way back further than I usually do to stop the fin giving way. Perhaps I should try this with my other sails. Very impressed with the light feel of the sail and acceleration. Sam and Carl were still out with the wind building when I left. |
