Trojan (8394km): Mackay, QLD, AU After being rained out yesterday, today brough clear skies but easing winds. Nice cruisey sail on the big freeride kit. 7.5 Ezzy, Hawk 124, 420 fin. Conditions pretty patchy early, but had a decent breeze come in at the end when the tide was low, before dropping out again. 4 sailors out.
dr cam (41674km): Clifton Beach, QLD, AU Another fun sail off the beach in ~ 16-19 knots on the X fire 114 E 7 8.6 Tribal SW 35. Should have been on the 7.8 ....
Peter AUS466 (4131km): Holloways Beach, QLD, AU Same set up as yesterday but rigged better. Up and down wind , slog for about 10 minutes and then powered up for 10 and then finished with a squal completely over powered in pelting rain.Best fun I've had in ages.
Freddy Burke (12114km): Holloways Beach, QLD, AU Great sail with Billy this afternoon. He is sailing very well and hopefully his numbers will prove it but more importantly he is enjoying it.Wind was very ordinary at the start of the session and ended with some very strong gusts before rain which ended the session. While packing up discovered a tear in my LOFT O2 6.6 sail (MY FAVOURITE) ....not sure how it got there! Ed has a quote for things like that....."you get that!" Peter was also out and mnaged to hold on through 'cyclone Billy' and with a 7.3. All ended good with a gasbag while packing up. RRD XFIRE 102 , LOFT O2 6.6 , CANEFIRE 38
Sausage (22853km): iS97, 7.0RBlade, 33 CL Sl2 - Lammermoor Beach, QLD, AU E 14-19kn Thought I'd take the zipper out as wind had tapered off somewhat and I would've struggled with the iS90. Forgot just how nice this board points upwind compared to the iS90 but doesn't have that looseness of the 90 going broad. Everything felt pretty good and was just getting into the swing of things when my tendon broke down the far end of beach. Formuline held it altogther but it was a slog back home.
Billy (10673km): Holloways Beach, QLD, AU ***As suspected, 2 sec was a false reading - now corrected. This should make Fred a very happy man..... Before I jump for joy, I'm going to get the file double checked..not sure about that 2 sec?? Will get that 2 sec checked, but it was just supposed to be a very nice, sedate, light wind Sunday arvo sail in the Holloways "Smooth" that turned into 20 mins of survival at the end as a storm front passed late in the session - totally out classed on the big gear. Great arvo blatting up and down the beach with Freddy with just a few excursions out to the wide blue yonder. Pete C turned up and was fast becoming the alpha king of the afternoon. Breeze was a tidy 13 knts when we kicked off but did build to a reasonable 15-16 knots an hr in. Very pleasent sailing indeed. We dogged each other for much of the session. Couldnt land a bloody gybe to save myself....just got back on quickly!!!! Great arvo. Pushed as hard as I could this session and was really hoping to smash my 65Km PB - tried a few new stances that could help down the track - just really trying to find an optimin level of sailing that will increase my chances of making good in what ever conditions we end up in. Finished of in 25knts of surging storm front that spat me out some ways down the beach resulting (board kept sliding sideways) in the ever present walk of shame. Big thanks to my wing man for the help.
Great arvo, in 90% sunshine and pleasent breezes... 129 "Muma" Screamer, 7.5 T4, Select Eagle 43
