ray gun (14091km): Pelican Point, WA, AU Isonic 127, 87, 107. Overdrive 7.8, 7.0. Carbon Volt 44, Canefire 38. There is 2 types of windsurfing sessions, the days the wind is alreaady blowing when your driving to the local, you are anxious and hope your not missing out on the best wind, you can't get rigged and on the water quick enough, it's all a bit of a rush. Or there are the times when you leave home and there's not a breath of wind but you are sure you can trust the forcast. You stop and buy some lunch and sit on the grass at the waters edge feasting on your roll watching the moored boats swing around and then as you wipe the crumbs off your face you see in the distance the telltale sign of the seabreeze heading your way. You casually rigg up after a bit of pondering and decide on the 7.8 and big board. White caps are on the water as you get yourself ready and cruise out in about 10-12kn. The water is as flat as it will be all day and after some pumping you are skimming over it with a smile that you won't be able to get rid of all day. As the wind builds and you get more powered up you go for an Hr attempt. After what you hope is the right amount of time and with the wind up around 20kn you head in to rig smaller and swap boards. You plug in the 87/7.0 combo thinking the breeze will be similar to the previous day only for it to drop under 20kn. So back in and swap over to the trusty 107/7.0. Hit the water again and then proceed to have a great couple of hours dragging around the lumpy, bumpy, eye popping water with some speedy locals.
I THINK YOU KNOW WHAT SORT OF DAY I HAD. |
