Well that was a wild and wooly westerly. Started on the Kopncepty 5.8 and the Naish SP60 speed board. Was ok but a bit too choppy for the boards (or my maybe) liking. Saw Dave have a mega over the front so I sailed over to check he was ok. He had bashed a log. I sailed off knowing he was fine before I too had an off doing 32 knots and face planted like I have never done before. I had stayed hooked in so my legs proceeded to bend up toward my head which has left my back a bit sore. Discovered I had bent my boom nicely on one side which has rendered it unusable now. Better it broke than me though. Went in and changed down to a 4.9 and took the Drops out to hopefully do a NM but it was getting windier and choppier and I thought I have already had 1 big off and survived relatively unscathed so better to quit while I could still drive home in 1 piece.

Great to catch up with the Illawarra boys, it has been too long guys. Sorry I couldn't hang around and talk more crap. Heaps of other people out having a ball. Speaking of balls, Rick has big ones holding onto a 7.0 in that wind Surprised

Finally back on the water after a long three months off, and not by choice, or design.

I love sailing Primbee but still carry some mental scars, so it was no joy today to hit a floating log at speed, but luckily not a bear-away.  Got thrown over the bars hooked in, feet in straps and quickly realised my body is not as elastic as a Gumby . No real damage to board sail or body but very sore. Andrew Stop to see if I was OK and I explained to him what had happen – we spotted the floating log and I decided to bring it in and also give my body a chance to recover. Andrew hopped back on his board and was off!

What seemed like only a couple of minutes had passed and Andrew was back look as white as a ghost. He then explained what had just happen to him with his epic crash – luck for the both of us we lived to tell another tale.

By the time I had a bite to eat and my body had recovered somewhat , the wind had upped the ante and I decided that would be enough for my sailing for the day.

As always the Illawarra guys where fantastic hosts,  it was great to see them all again. Also great to catch up with some of the DD’s and meet some new ones, And of course always great to sail with my team mates.Cool

primbee 25+ kts a short sail after work , thought it was easing so i took a 6.4 m2 MAXXED OUT all the time with a bit of chop at that speed made it hard to keep the board in the water, with one good lift and slam i decided to call it a day . no broken gear.

Great to meet you blokes at Primbee. Seem to cross paths from time to time.

Boss Man lived up to his name handling the conditions so easily and a cracking 41 knots.

Unlucky in the collision Dave. Bad enough to see a large tree branch floating around the place early in the day and then you come across some discarded building timber. Thanks for retrieving the hazard and saving someone else a potential disaster.

Great sailing yesterday Rick. Using your speed board early was a great idea. As soon as that wind kicked in and it chopped up it was like sailing in a southerly at primbee. Hard work!!! Well done mate.
