Pyramid Lake, NV, US

PD SL 92, The Loft Speed Blade 6.3, Vector Volt 34.

Rainy day at Pyramid Lake, started with fishing and than some speedsurfing just to mix it up a little Wink. Wind was 20-25kt with some short gusts to 35kt but very short lived. I managed to squeeze 5 solid runs out of it before it died down completely. 7.0 would have bee better but speed blade 6.3 was super fast accelerating, it really helped with max. speed in short gusts. Vector Volt was solid, love this fin with PD 92.

Smokin turn Boris, you're sneaking up on my alpha pb, just over a knot to go. Will have to dig out my alpha board and get in some practice! Nice peak, must be smooth water down there with the river levels on the way up, sounds like a fast location. Did Denis get out as well?

Thank you guys. This was extra sweet as I did 24.6 kt average for 5 alphas out of six jibes total in this session plus 28.8 NM with jibe in it.

Water level at Pyramid Lake is still going down as far as I can tell. It looks like it is about 10-15 feet below normal right now. Denis and I have been wishing for water level to go down thinking that sooner or later we would be able to sail really close to the shore but it is not working out that way. Slope is very gradual and regardless of water level we are always sailing at about 30-50 meters from the shore line where water depth is about knee level. It is flat when wind is square but rolling chop starts to develop as soon as wind turns to broad reach. The only thing that is little better is that speed run is little longer with water level being lower. At the same time it feels to me that wind is even more gusty, so no real gain in any way. And once the wind starts cranking it swirls and shifts, pretty dangerous actually.

Denis was there, we started with fishing and he decided to continue fishing instead of sailing in cold and rainy weather. Now that he has the spot record for the max. speed he can relax just a little bitty Smile.
