Clifton Beach, QLD, AU Nice blast of my home beach in 15-18 knots on the Mistral 112 Tribal SW 35 Loft Blade 8.6.Super messy water when the wind kicked in but great fun !!

Photo taken this morning before the breeze began.

At ~1.5m of tide on the island there can be some really nice patches of 'smooth water '-need to dodge the turtles/stray rocks ..

Knackered -sailing fitness all but gone...Frown

Holloways Beach, QLD, AU

Headed to the beach hoping to get a sail on the desperation gear,(Bindis old 130lt AHD, 52cm select and 7.8 Overdrive)

Only to be blown off the water with an unexpected 20 to 25kts!

Good fun! Would have been much nicer with a 6.2 and my 90lt,,

Port Douglas, QLD, AU

Day of First's - First sail of 2017...my god, that coulndt have come any slower, dead set, the weight scales at home couldnt take any more punishement Tongue out. Second first - First use of the GW-60. Must say, what a breeze to use and so easy to keep a track of your session. Cant wait for the new update.

Turned out to be a real nice arvo up at Port D. Rounded up every one I could...Ian B. Fast Ed, Andrew, Freddo, Young Ben. First two hours, we were very much controlled by the rain scuds that came and went with very little sailing done. 3PM seemed to be the magic number. In she came, the clouds cleared and a very nice steady 15kts entertained the troops, which was about all this body could take after such a long lay off.

125 AHD Diamond, 49S10, 7.5 T4 .   Happy days again.

great day at port douglas with Billly,Eddy,Ian,Ben and Andrew. Started early thinkingstorms might come in this afternoon, but the exact opposite

wind was great around 3-00 ish but I was already wasted......fitness is at an all time low.

Managed to have another univeral joint tendon go on me on my second run out....disappointing!

RRD X-FIRE 102 , KOYOTE 6.6 AND CANEFIRE 6.6....all a little small for most of what today provided.

Port Douglas, QLD, AU

Good first sail of the year at Port with the lads. Arrived around lunch time before the 3:00 wind kicked in, so riged big iSonic 117, Severne gator 7.0 and Northshore 46 fin. that was great until 3:00 when the the fin was too big, the baord  too fat for the chop and i was already byggered.  Despite all that a realy good day better than the last 9 weeks of not sailing.

Port Douglas, QLD, AU.Had a play date with the boys, think Billy organised it..wasn't that keen on a early start...New 'happy hr 'wasn't gunna start till 3oclock but had a tune up session on 7.8m gastra that my wing man Andrew has lent me..Am still not getting the most out of this sail Billy said it will pull harder on gorilla mast he gave me instead of Andrews Niel Pryde, will try it next session..Think i am missing my old Niel Pryde 7.7 and my nice soft north platium mast.. wind hooked in bang on 3oclock and i did a   quick board change from 117 to 97 isonic, little board felt a bit nervous  in a stiff breeze and a choppy sea with 40 cm fin, new big fin was gunna be a bit of an over kill but i was just playing around today.. wanted to sail till dark but ran out of fuel..Think the crew all went home happy..Cheers Ed

iS97, 7.0RBlade, 36 Tribal Sl - Lammermoor Beach, QLD, AU ESE 14-18kn

Something not quite right from the get go with board sounding unusual slapping over the water.  Persisted for a little while but came in to find bottom had a 40cm circular delamination just below mast track.  First time I've ever had a board delaminate but put it down to my own stupidity by not removing vent plug when travelling from Brisbane after xmas holidays.  Should be an easy fix using criss cross method and mixing up some epoxy with qcels and reglassing (a la Firiebob method).

A Fantastic start to 2017 with a brilliant pre-season outing with the crew.  Rigged my 8.2m North Sail - isonic 133 litre with my big 53cm fin.  First outing with my new waist harness.  Set the boom up high and found i had a lot more control than my combo waist seat harness.  Wondered if I could remember how to sail.  Had a few moments over the front early on, and then I found that it was easier to hook in and out, and I was standing more upright on the board.  Spent a lot of time learning to trust the harness and ease in to it, most of the boys were finished or nearly finished when I went out at 3:30 - the wind kicked up a notch which was great.  Did a lot of really nice runs in and out.  Ed was also out there on the big gear - running a 7.8m sail.  Typical FNQ chop, but lots of fun, especially the runs back to shore.  Just great to be out there again -maybe we'll get a good season after last years' debacle.  I started to have serious problems with overheating = the water was stinking hot and I just couldn't get cool.  In the end my sailing fitness cried enough.  Just brilliant to see Ian, Billy, Freddy Burke, and newbie Ben - who is now enjoying life Monday to Friday - plenty of time for him to get stuck into the sailing.  Great to get out with my mate, Ed =- after spending alot of time talking about sailing it was great to get out there - looking forward to racing him this year and do more distance on the water.  Ed changed down to his 97 isonic and was as happy as a pig in poop.  What a great day.

Hey Snags. My 101 Futura and my first 97lt Isonic both did that. The whole bottoms delaimated. was told it is from taking a beating in a choppy sea. Mine both ended up in the wheelie bin. Hope your repair goes well. Cheers Ed.

Cant argue with that turn out gents. Best yet for 2017. Lets hope there are plenty more.

Now, its time to turn ones attention to the WindFest in Burrum this year. I for one am committing this year, both leave and accomodation have been booked. Wife is keen to spend our 20th Wedding Anniversary watching me sail.. God bless her little cotton socks Innocent. Is there anybody else in the Mob that is keen to head down? It would be good to get a team turn out.

Thanks Ed.  It's taken a beating and been in two pieces but it's such a great board I'll give it my best shot.  The delam is only circular so the fix shouldn't be too complex.

Ed, Book the rooms with Troy then organise a road trip with Freddy. I can take the trailer with all the gear. Freddy, make the call. So if Snags, Troy, Freddy, Ed and myself go, that is officially a team. Who's organizing the team shirts?
