Boardman, OR

Naish SP95 replica, NP EVO8 8 6.4 rdm mod, Vector Volt 33

Went on an adventure, headed upwind for a few miles looking for flat water...none to be found. Didn't really go for any speeds as it was 97 degrees F when I rigged after waiting for the wind to come in. With such hot dry air figured it wouldn't have much oomph so went exploring. Ended up with a half decent nm, max was over 35 knots but min 25, so quite gusty. Worked out the best place to lay one down so all to play for next visit. Did the same speed as last time, seems it's pretty easy to do 30 knot nm after all. Punched out a nice alpha in the weed garden, can see some big numbers out there when it get's really windy and I can ride the small board. Managed to turn the GW60 off for a few runs trying to see the distance. Added in the missing segments from my backup GPSLogit phone data.

Did you get out today? Was it as gusty as I expected at Wterfront Park?

Didn't go out. Was very gusty with big holes but others tried, I could have too but my mind was elsewhere. In addition, they had two kiting courses, the standard one out where they usually have the slalom races and another one for foil kiting that required anyone windsurfng to cut through the foilers twice to get past the course.

Tyson Poor and two other wiindsurfers participated in the kiting event. Was fun to watch Tyson blasting past the kiters on the downwind run to the event site Laughing (don't know his board size but he was on a NP EVO 9 7.8).

Looks like more of the same today. Should be a bit more mellow from Monday on then Boardman looks good again Thursday. Keeping my eye on Hole in the Wall near Maryhill for when the river drops to 76 feet and the speed course comes into play. 'Tis a great summer for speed in the Gorge. Mission 2017 continues!
