Third visit to Budgie and what a day. Soo windy. Had a chance to chat with some of the guys a bit today but focused on sorting out the gear for the day. The westerly built from 20-25+ k to 30-40k gusts later on. I measured a 37 knot gust before I left at 2.00.
Started with the 79 and naish 5.0 and 16 cm fin. Swapped after a short lunch break to the 54 with the same fin and sail. Most of the bigger guys were on 5.5 or 6.0. I could have gone with the 4.6 but I'd had enough. Too taxing and not much fun. Survival sailing really. Pleased with the gear and in tact! Some awesome numbers from the local crews. Pretty scary stuff bearing away in thick weed and 35k gusts.
