Ant-man (13504km): Rathmines, NSW, AU. 5.6 Hucker 110 Naish. Fun sail, bit up and down but worth rigging for.
Bruce Healey (24403km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU What a nice arvo. A bit SE so there was a good angle through the really smooth stuff & a a convenient bit at the end where you could point up, gybe in deep enough water & get back upwind. Dropped a bit after a while so the latecomers missed the best (Byron, Walshy, Muzz). The whole world not at LG was there, except for the ones who weren't who are too numerous to name and who won't be offended because they're probably somewhere equally good and have been named by someone else, probably someone who types better than me. CASP44, 5.9, 16MUF
Ian Wright (16360km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU. Ready to go and in the water as southerly hit. Had one run in flat water. Went a bit too early as wind gradually picked up and chop built quite slow. Fanatic Ray 102, R6 Overdrive 7m S1 33 fin. Few others out today . 15-20+ knots S to SS/E.
Byron Mcilveen (64562km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU CA44, s2 maui 6.3, delta 17 underdone 7 would have been better just missed the best just 5 knots more and would have had some huge speeds it was so flat but just not enough wind I recon I could have hand draged at 42 easy. water was warm good company and good way to finish the weekend.
Andrew Haigh (50494km): Lake George, SA, AU CA70 , 7.0m and BD33. 10-15kts SW Packers Point. Only about 10 people out.
sboardcrazy (25232km): 5-17kts SSW -Packers Pt Lake George, SA, AU 7m OD - 111ltre RS4Excocet- 38 BP50 weedspeed I wanted a nice cruisey sail and the wind looked a bit dodgy so I rigged the cargo carrier but I wasn't game to go the 7.5m with the record this place has for wind..I played it safe with the 7m. Lovely cruising around practising my stance..The first time I've managed to dip the leeward rail with this board. I had no issues with the Xcross as it had a pintail but this one has a large volume tail. Got it together a bit today although it will probably go out the door on smaller gear and stronger winds.. The lake was lovely and flat. I was going to try an hr just for interest ( I knew it wouldn't be very high with that combo) but the wind started to die at the 45min mark..Then I started having trouble making ground upwind..then it really died..Glad I was on the big board!. It.s a long haul back right upwind on that ginormous lake when you're only doing 3-4kts and can't point.. I got sick of watching the weather station go past.. Still it was worth it as at 5.30pm the whole lake turned to glass just like Budgy..there was still 10-13kts coming across occasionally but you couldn't see it till it hit and i wasn't going to lose any ground at all trying to use it! I was the last one in..Thanks for the offer of a tow Craig and to everyone who helped with the gear..I like a challenge but I've done that now so hopefully it won't happen again.
James Farley (12772km): Marmong Point, NSW, AU Exocet RS4, TR8 7.0, JP 38 - Wind SSE 12-15 knots Just a short window to get out - underpowered but happy to be on the water. |
