CA SL58, Ezzy Lion 6.5, Sting 34 then BP WS34.
Wind was up and down, took an each way bet with the sail selection which worked well. Started off in huge chop, well powered up, heaps of ramps. Should have started out with B&J gear. As tide dropped things flattened and got as few reasonable runs but breeze dropped to sub 20kNts when it was really flat at the end. Not quite enough to launch downwind but almost cracked the 30 mark.
Called it a day after a shallow water catapult on the sandbank. Great morning... looks OK for a big gear session tomorrow.

Great turn out at The Wallow Pit - Kel, Binny, Benny and Freddo. SSE at 20 - 30 kts WOW, it was smoking and turned out to be a very difficult afternoons sail but great to get wet. Special mention to Benny (B2) who was a Trojan Horse out there on the water today. Nothing phased him, he just kept plugging away at it and looked like he was thoroughly enjoying himself. Well done mate cause it was ridicuously rough and wild out there today. Also great to see Ruebs out the at the Wallow Pit for his first sail in location.
Cant believe I didnt register an Alpha, again....Grrrr. Never mind, it aint sheep stations and I was pretty happy at the end to walk out of the water and not damaged anything.
Used: CA SL108, 40 Sting 2, 7.0 M1 OD - should have rigged the 6.2 !!!!

2254 days ago 1 categories Holloways with a few of the FNQ Mobsters. Wind was quite strong and appeared southerly...... struggled on my CA55...but all the others seemed
comfortable..appearantly you get that. Benny looked very comfortable and certainly showed me how it was done.
The morgan boys sailed well and should have some good numbers. Billy hung in there and should get some respecteble numbers.
Maybe tomorrow !!!

Nice little arvo bump & jump session in the Holloway's smooth with good company... Sailed with Kel, Reuben, Billy & Freddo.
Pretty rough and wild out there today- was wanting to get some K's in but wind was way too Southerly meaning eyes wide open sailing was the order of the day contemplating head on swell on the runs out and butt clenching moments skipping over the swell on the runs back in...
Rigged the newly acquired Toody 2nd hand (but pretty much brand new) Severne OD 7 sail for the first time along with the Futura 122 & BP Sabre 42.5 - sail rigged a treat!
Good fun had!!

that was an ugly session today - a question of survival. Got down there and all hell was breaking loose - rigged 6m Gator with standard downhaul - and 41cm drake fin on atomiq120. Headed out into the slop just as Ed arrived. I didn't know if he worked out what sail I was running as I was massively overpowered and trying hard to stay on the right side of the board. Ed had obviously not worked out what sail I was running because he came out with his new Severne 7m with a fair bit of downhaul on it. I cruised in and told him he would probably need to use his 5.4 X type - he went out and had about an hour tail walking on his Fox before coming in - I came in as well - to get my crank and wind down another 4cm on the downhaul to really loosen the leech and also to change to my smallest fin - Freddy Burke's 38cm. Ed rigged his 5.4m and changed over to a smaller fin - out we went again and the wind had kicked up another couple of knots - Ed reckoned it was blowing 30 knots out the back. Gave it another hour and did a risk assessment - live to fight another day. Simmy came down late for a sail - didn't get to see her out there but the girl learnt her trade in the harbour at Wellington - where 40 knot breezes are not uncommon. Planning another sail tomorrow to try and milk the best of this breeze.

Just Merena and me over on the northern run. Pretty light and gusty. Under finned and sailed. Didn't plane out of many gybes but still managed reasonable hour given the conditions.

2254 days ago 2 categories Port Douglas, QLD, AU Afternoon session with Andrew and Simmi our local wave sailing queen ...Was a good breeze blowing after lunch and Andrew was already out carving it up..Rigged 7m on 105 fox and had a quick blast, am carrying a few injuries at the moment so not realy sail fit, decided to do a rig change to save on fuel..Kind of glad i did as wind kept building all arvo ,was gusting 30kts out wide. can't rember the last time Port was this rough had a good fun session and Fox took a real beating all arvo but handled great never put a foot wrong and it managed to drag my sorry ass back to the beach at sundown. Thats about as good as it gets for me..Andrew sailed great which is expected of him now..He went home shagged but happy..Our local wave queen fluttered around looking great as usual but started to get over powered and went home before her hair got messed up..Guess it was worth rigging up for..Cheers Ed..
